I was fortunate to be at 4 sets of Dr. John the last 2 evenings. The good Dr. was in fine form, very animated between songs. He played many selections from his upcoming release, "City That Care Forgot," which is coming out in June. New songs have poignant lyrics that further document the tragedy NOLA suffered in August 2005.

At least once I was embarassed to be in the San Francisco crowd who laughed at inappropriate times when Mac was voicing his disdain over the continuing post storm debacle. I guess if those crowd members have never been to NOLA they just don't get it, so I forgive them.

Zigaboo sat in for one song on Friday night.

Only 47 days till JazzFest!

Hey Now Rita, glad you had a good time. Yoshi's is a great club, and having Zig sit in must have been a nice suprise! Have a wild weekend, Matthew

of course, dr john & the band were in fine form...never disappoints...first thing he said when he came onstage..."we want you to dance"...which i was mainly the only one...i like front row all the way left or right there...sit down gig...need wall behind ya to not bother anybody...he cajoled everybody up for big chief at the end...

i was embarrased a bit too...laughter when it wasn't funny...the first few comments were sarcastic & sorta funny...but it got to uncomfortable laughter pretty quick...he is admittedly pissed though, and rightly so...glad you got a zig pop in

Yoshi's is a tough venue if you want to dance, especially in the front row. Not such good sight lines with that HUGE grand Steinway and Sons on stage. I did, however, get a good view of Rx J's blue suede shoes and saxophone socks! Still smiling....

I guess those that don't have that contageous bug (the one that all of us have aching in our body, mind and soul, just ACHING to be in New Orleans) have forgotten what happened there and laugh at Dr. John's creole accent and way of wording things. Same thing happened when I saw him at the Masonic in SF last year.

Who else is seeing Dr. John at HOB FQ on 4/25? I'll be dancin' my azz off there...fingers crossed for a Tip's show announcement during JF. Anybody know what might be planned at Tip's on 4/29? Still blank on their calendar.
