View Full Version : Question for Ohio
Hey Ohio, I noticed you're in Cincy. I'm here in Connecticut with tickets to bring the family to see my Huskies play the Bearcats today; unfortunately it appears that the Bearcats did not leave Ohio ahead of the storm and now won't be able to get to CT in time to play the game as scheduled this afternoon. My girls are melting down because they have tentatively rescheduled the game until 8:00 p.m. tonight, and that's too late for me to bring them (they're my oldest, but still only 8 and 6 years old); in that case it changes the lineup from me with the family to me with my college buds. Although the latter is always fun, I get to do that a lot, and I'd rather be able to bring my girls (and it's the last game of the season).
The other option is, if the Bearcats can't leave Ohio by 2:00 p.m. today, the game will be rescheduled to tomorrow at 6:00 p.m. That's pushing it a bit on a school night because we live about 1+ hours from campus, but I think I could convince my wife that it's ok under the circumstances. So...my question is, as one who is in Cincy, what do you think the chances are that the Bearcats will be flying out by 2:00 p.m. today? We're not supposed to get an update here until after 2:00, and I'm just trying to figure out what to tell my girls and my buddies about the likelihood of either option in the meantime (primarily because my daughters are really having a hard time understanding this, and I'm still not too good at dealing with girls melting down). Thanks for any thoughts you have.
Just announced game rescheduled to tomorrow at 6 because weather still too bad in Ohio.

Yes, Lit, just to confirm, the game has been postponed until 6 P.M. Sunday.
The City of Cincinnati declared a level 2* snow emergency, which means no travel at all except for emergencies. We're a Delta hub city and Delta cancelled about 60 flights this morning.
It's hard to tell how much snowfall we actually have due to the wind. The snow is still coming down and we have white out conditions due to the powder blowing every where. It looks like we have about 10" on the ground here (I'm about 5 miles E. of where Ohio lives), but there must be at least 15" on the roof of the house.
It's so bad the dogs don't even want to venture out today!
Anyway, it's gorgeous stuff- fine, dry powder that is rarely seen in this part of the country. I had wanted at least one great snowstorm this year, so I'm lovin' it!
It seems to be a monster storm that spawned tornadoes yesterday in the South. It's heading Northeast, so you guys better stock up on milk, bread & Charmin!
Take care, everyone.
* now a level 3, which means only necessary travel.

I just looked out my window and there was three people cross country skiing down the middle of the street....help me Jeebus!
Yeah, thanks Bryan and Sissy for confirming. Tomorrow turns out to be better than tonight for me because I can still bring my girls to the 6:00 p.m. game. Go Huskies! And enjoy your snow. Actually looks fun to me, and a whole lot prettier than the r**n we're getting pounded with here today.

For sure! It looks a lot prettier than all that dead, brown grass we've been looking since Thanksgiving!
Hope you & your girls have a lot of fun at the game!

Hey, Ohio ... I hate to complain, but could you & your neighbors do something about all the snow that's blowing out of your yards? It's really piling up over here! ;) :p
It's not me---call ODOT, it's their plows out on the state route ;)
Don't forget to set your clocks to DST tonight. Happy ummmmmm, spring.

Thanks for the info, Bry. I'll give them a call!
That's a lot of snow out there! We have 4' drifts on our driveway and we're trapped. Our driveway is 1200' long. We got the 4WD stuck, though, so the afternoon wasn't entirely wasted!
We took a four mile hike, though, and it was lots of fun. The bloodhound got loose when we got back home. I had to climb three fences to get over to the neighbor's field to retrieve him.
The Jack Russell Terrier came along and got stuck in a 4-ft. drift. All you could see was his little black nose poking up! I had on a pair of heavy quilted overalls and knee high boots and my mobility was somewhat impeded. When I bent over to get him, I tripped over the bloodhound and fell into the snowbank, too.
We were all thrashing around in the snowdrift for a little while before we were able to regain a vertical posture and proceed.
The snow is very beautiful and a lot of fun, but I'll tell, just between you and I, I'm glad it's March! :)
