Nice! We will be getting this poster and getting it signed what a great idea.

OH, the problem is when you buy it online, though, they won't ship it to you til AFTER fest. Guess you have to wait til your next Rebirth show to have it signed . . .

Or volunteer for the early shift at Ms Lena's 1st or 2nd Friday and get into the fest early to grab the posters you need. ;)

But . . . If you're volunteering, aren't you there to volunteer? I'm thinking buy early to make sure no sell out and buy on site later too if there's still an opportunity!

Amy:
If I get first weekend, I will be there before everyone and can be first in line for either the Congo Square poster or the Official poster. If you want me to do that! ;) I'll let you know when acceptances go out.

ooh, congo square poster for sure!! hmmmm, depending on the lineup for first Friday, we may just do that...We may be able to sneak away before everything opens to get the poster from the booth. Hopefully Ms. Lena would allow that.

No sure what you mean but it's easy to swing by the poster tent on the way to Ms Lena's.

And I'll take my volunteers anyway I can get them... :)

Time spent in the poster line is time not hearing music. Order online when they become available and maximize your music time at Jazz Fest. And don't worry about carting them around the Fair Grounds and on the plane on the way home!

Yeah, but then you can't get it signed . . .

RT, I might take you up on that but I know you'll be working! If there's not a mad rush/sell out like last year's Fats it shouldn't be a problem though.

CBH, Jeff & I had this discussion the day we volunteered early last year -- he wanted to run right over and grab our Acura stage spot before anyone else got in and I just thought it was kind of wrong -- we were there to volunteer at the beer booth, not secure extra advantages for ourselves . . .

amen! at my first jazzfest in '05 I almost passed up buying the official poster thinking I could just order on line when I got home. Fortunately I changed my mind and bought it before learning that buying it afterwards was not an option. It sucked to lug that around the fairgrounds and yes on the plane also so buying in advance this year I will do for sure.

Put me down for 1 congo please!

We do not do a whole lot of business the first hour or so, and brenda can handle what we do have. ...we usually watch the "running of the faithful" and see what everyone is (or isn't) wearing and struggling with too much to carry while running for the best stage positions....hmmm, we might be watching you!!!!;) :D

I'm sure you have. We are definitely runners! ;)

How do I volunteer @ Ms. Lena's? I heard about it after the fact last year.

cbh will start a volunteer thread when she gets all the info from ms. lena, bluesgirl. I'd like to put in some time too, cbh.

Last year I spoke to nice lady from art4now a week or so before the fest and she said we could come in and pick up our posters while we were in town... Of course we never got around to doin' that...

Have they taken the notice down? Or am I just missing it?

I don't see mention of it in their profile, and the latest blog entry is a year old.

Ummm, I think that I posted this a week ago....

My sources confirm that Jerry Lee is the poster this year. I also know that the Congo Square poster is the Rebirth tuba player.....[/QUOTE]

What's wrong, you didn't believe my sources? ;) :p :D

It was a bulletin Swag, it's still there (check your bulletins).

We believed you Rosetree :) But now we've also got an offer to have the artist sign it, woo hoo! We cooked Phil steaks at High Sierra, I'm sure we can pin him down for a signing.

No bulletin for me, RBB and I are not friends. Nothing personal, I just don't collect bands on my MySpace. Besides, how can I compete with all those sexy webcam girls on their comments page?

And not that I didn't believe you, Mark, but your sources were undisclosed. Hearing it from the horse's mouthpiece, so to speak, makes it realer.

We were one of Tuba Phil's top friends for awhile after the steaks -- how quickly they forget, haha ;)

The poster is already done, my framer saw it already!

Any hints on what it looks like?

(Or even if the framer just thought it was great?) :)

He said it was great! He didn't like Jerry Lee's. Maybe I'll swing by there and see if he has one....I wonder how he saw it?

Excellent! Cannot wait to buy one for myself and one for the raffle :) Should get both signed I think. Which brings me back to buy early (in case they sell out) or wait.

Man, I spotted Sha(y) in the lineup for a Fats poster last year, and she had been there for 2.5 hours. That ain't right.

There's no way i would travel thousands of miles to the greatest music festival in the world to stand in a 2.5 hour lineup, and given that Sha is one of the biggest music lovers I know, it seems even worse. Hopefully they'll work out the bugs this year.

The Killer is going to be the poster boy for the Jazz Fest for 2007? Hmmm...that's an interesting choice. I mean, I don't dislike JLL, I appreciate his musical ability and all, he's a really interesting character, and yes, I know he hails from Louisiana.

But, he wouldn't be the first piano player I would think of for the poster. I personally would have chosen Marcia Ball, if it had been up to me.

It is good to see him receive this honor while he is still a performing artist though. Maybe this is a signal that more of the Swamp Pop-type acts that have performed at the Ponderosa Stomp in recent years will achieve more recognition at the Fest from the Foundation, or F.P.I., or whoever it is who makes these decisions.

Anyway, my curiosity is piqued. I can't wait to see what the artwork for this one will look like.

I feel fairly certain that the Congo Square poster will sell out this year.

I've never seen a poster line like that in my years of festing. Hopefully, it will prove to be a one-year aberration, much like the DMB crowd in '01.

As to Sha(y), I think if she was just buying for herself she'd have had the sense to bag it, but IIRC she had told some 2nd-weekending Threadhead that she's get him one, so I guess she felt obligated. Bless her heart.
