...but great for the music soul.

I am usually a latecomer to new technology and services, but recently a co-worker turned me on to Pandora. com. For my fellow slowpokes, this is a free internet radio station that is commercial-free, and allows you to create your own playlists based on artist/genre/style similarities.

OMG, I have heard so much new music, either from artists I didn't know, or from familiar performers' older works, that I literally have had to turn off the feed. I was buying too many CDs on the spot!

That's just so insane. The US based media has no problems broadcasting their signal across the border, but it won't allow us to see archived versions of their tv shows and other content due to "licensing restrictions". WTF?

I was playing around with some of the online music sites and made some playlists on Last.FM and Pandora.

On Last.FM I'm http://www.last.fm/user/stevemiami/

I also made a station on Pandora attempting to capture a small slice of the musical essence of a worldwide festivalist. :)

Last.fm taps the wisdom of the crowds, leveraging each user's musical profile to make personalised recommendations, connect users who share similar tastes, provide custom radio streams, and much more.

Pandora is a music listening and discovery service. Pandora enables users to easily create streaming stations that explore their favorite parts of the music universe.
