Ok, folks: full disclaimer! I'm sitting here sipping on some very fine bourbon and I have a very nice buzz. So, forgive me if I come across as a little wordy.

I've been reading these recent posts about the Patry tix, and Fest4Kidz, and SilenceIsViolence, and I'mthinking what a great community this is. All any of us want to do is to 'give back." If we can have fun while we're giving back, that even better.

I'm hopeful that one result of the Patry ticket experience is that we all realize that we really have something meaningful here. If it didn't matter, no one would care. If it didn't matter, no one would be disappointed. We are part of something meaningful.

Also, I'm a little drunked up.

Love and kisses,
John

Ozzie! How are you, Buddy? I'm reading a biography of Winston Churchill, and lemme tell ya, he was really high on ANZAC. Gillopoli should of worked, according to WSC, and the reason was the efforts of the ANZAC troops. I thought of you when I read that.

Is this thread drift, or what?

I have a couple of cool beer cans downstairs including an Iron City 1979 Pittsburgh Pirates World Series can as well as a Iron City 1979 Pittsburgh Steelers. The house I live in was owned by a older man who passed away. His son sold the house and he left alot behind including this massive beer can collection as well as several saloon lights.

The beer cans are right next to the threadmill!

It never occured to me that I don't have any Cub cans! God only knows how many Old Style's I've drank to lessen the pain.

Oh my God, Gallipoli was a friggin nightmare.... all those poor kids. If you ever come across the film of the same name you should watch. I'd send it, but don't think our stuff works there. Maybe... I'll check it out.

Hey Now Joey!!! Sorry to hear you wont be at Fest, I was looking forward to catching up, but its great to see Jack Riley look so happy and healthy, a wonderful child, I am sure..... I am trying to fly down to San Diego to visit friends and family, but I dont know if I can get away before New Orleans. If I find myself in your neck of the woods, it would be nice to get a beer, or a bite to eat. I hope you are well, and want you to know you will be missed at the Fairgrounds. Your friend Matthew. PS---I dont know if you remember, but you were one of the very first threadheads I met. I hadnt posted much before, but I found my way to Ms Lenas, and I was kind of standing off to the side, not knowing what to say, and you made it a point to come up, introduce yourself, and make me feel at home..... So very thoughtful!!!

Nah... and actually for me, although I like some of that Knob Creek, I really, really prefer my Canadian Rye, as well as my Toronto Blue Jays... Crown Royal, Cask No 16, if possible, or Crown Special Reserve, and sit back and watch Matt Stairs hit a homer... ah, that would make me happy. What can I say, I'm just longing to be down in FL for some spring training right now. I need me a pink Blue Jays cap!

R.W. Apple, the late and mighty great New York Times correspondent, introduced me to the joys of Woodford Reserve in a column some years back. Though I normally sip the Scotch variety, Woodford was a special pleasure that pleases me to associate with the writer who brought it to my attention in a treatise (and treat) on single barrel bourbons. Les, I hope you're in deep repose and your dreams are redolent of the barrel.

Oh, wow! I'd love to read that column. Can you point me to it? (If so, you better do it quickly. I am, indeed, in deep repose, even though my thoughts are moving in and out like characters in a Pirandello play.)

On the other hand, Woodford Reserve is some good shit, is it not?
