Just curious. We are always (well sort of) on a similar NO theme on this board, just thought I would pole what everyone is doing over the next couple of, mostly, free days. Other then dreaming of and making plans for Jazzfest, what are you doing? No posting after Sunday.

I guess I should help contribute. I'm celebrating St. Patricks Day this weekend. All weekend. I know it is early, but one of the biggest parades in NY is near me and it is always the Sunday after St. Patricks Day, but since that is Easter this year, they moved it to this Sunday. it's big, and in a very Irish town. All the bars will be packed and the Guinness flowing.
Then the town I grew up in, White Plains, is having their parade on Saturday. It's not as big a party, but there will be no shortage of big smiles, bag pipes and crowded bars.

Let's see. Black tie dinner tonight - Friendly Sons of St. Patrick. Bringing number two son to a birthday party on Saturday - probably a movie and dinner with the wife on Saturday night - basketball on Sunday morning, then bringing number one son to soccer. Other than that, I think I'm free.

Mark, for the first time in memory, our group is not sponsoring the Festival. I would try to come by, but we are doing a couple of big St. Patrick's Day gigs, a rodeo, a trail ride to benefit St. Jude's in Memphis, plus opening night at the speedway. I don't think I'll have the chance.
However, if you and the missus (if she's making this trip) are looking for something to do after the festival on Saturday night, there's a great St. Patty's Day party at Callaghan's, close to downtown Mobile. Grayson Capps & Theresa Anderson are among the performers....

Sounds like fun Dag, but after the show we usually like to decompress and have a nice dinner and then crash @ the hotel.
Sorry we won't get to see you.

TGIF (Just started Happy Hour - Vodka and diet tonic). My plan for the weekend is to catch up on the message board/grids etc and to sort out all of my Jam In The Dam plans! I've been too busy to read much this week and there's so many posts this time of year both here and on the JITD board. Early tomorrow we are running a big race (in the rain I am thinking). I'm having my 8 year old daughters Brownie Troop over later in the day to practice their song and dance for the school show. It's adorable. Tomorrow night we are heading to a party at a friends and on Sunday I am packing for Amsterdam! Next week at this time.........whooo hooooo.

And coincidentally, I've got play rehearsal for one of my daughters on Sunday also; and choir practice for two of them; and otherwise watching the third one (two year old) keep us all on our toes.

We're having a blizzard, so I'm gonna play in the snow! I know it will all be gone by next week, so I am not even going to bother clearing it from the walks and driveway. It's probably the last snow of this winter, so enjoy!
I want to go snow tubing!
Might go to a movie this weekend, and the art museum beckons for Sunday.
Making chili con carne tonight w/ a salad. Roasting some brownies in the oven. Maybe I'll open a bottle of red wine from Australia. Build a fire in the fireplace. Finish the novel I'm reading.
I might go to the symphony tomorrow night. I bought a subscription and the tickets have to be used up before May.
Coach my daughter on the Fine Points of Public Resistance. She's a college freshman and she's going to her first protest tomorrow. Should I be the ultimate helicopter parent and show up with the video cam? :p
Visit my mom and catch up with her. Haven't seen her this week.
Sounds like a lot! Are you sure this isn't a 3-day weekend?

got to open the library in the morning, so I'll have coffee at my desk and check in books out of the bookdrop, run a few reports and fill holds that need to be shipped off to other libraries... curse under my breath at the computers that are giving us grief (the new software actually) and come home by 1pm, pack a few things for me and papa and the doggie, and head on over to the first state to see and babysit my most precious grand daughter, and spend the night over there while her daddy is off on a business trip to Wisconsin, and her mama has to w*rk. The youngest daughter is up from Virginia, and is over there now, so she'll have the honor of entertaining Abbie in the morning until I get over there.
Sunday, we'll come home whenever, and maybe get home in time to have brunch with the youngest daughter and her fiance and his dad and stepmom, who have invited us... then do some laundry, cook and eat dinner.
Thank God for Abbie, or my life would be utterly boring!
She seems to like the shades I bought her for St. Patrick's day, they match the shamrock dress, hat, bib, booties, slacks and onesie that I bought her last weekend.

Started my weekend with the Nevilles at the new/old National Theatre on Broad Street in Richmond. The crowd was older, grayer, and fewer than when I saw Flogging Molly at the National last weekend, but we still can boogie now. Strong show, with Cyrille really kicking out "Tipitina" and a fine "Amazing Grace" by Aaron on the encore. Expect to catch a local version of the John Patrick Shanley play "Doubt" tomorrow, hopefully after a long run and some long overdue letter writing. Sunday's a mystery at the moment but I am sure there will be a Bloody Mary involved sometime about midday.

Last night we went to an art opening at a local gallery then to dinner with some friends. We are raw oysters, stone crab claws and boiled shrimp. Great dinner! I'm on the board of a local art show (Magic City Art Connection in Birmingham, AL ~if there are any artists out there) and we have our opening party tonight. So, I'm working on that all day, but tonight we have a surprise party to go and then a business dinner for husband. So, I'm not even going to get to enjoy the party. Oh well, such is life. Still reelin from the Holmes Brothers show last nite in Woodstock, IL.
Wow, they were even better than I had imagined, sooo much better than what I had heard on cd and radio! And the guy who booked em had no ads, no signs that his place was even open. So there were maybe only 25 or so people in the room, what a treat we all got. Wendell can really play that guitar. The first set ws 80% rockabilly-swing. Course they also do gospel, soul, and a couple Beatles tunes. I love those family harmonies! Tempted to go catch them again tonite downtown at Buddy Guys, to see if that was a special small-town-white-people set... I loved it but wanted more gospel.... and to hear more of that amazing music.
