MIDNIGHT PRESERVES (http://www.preservationhall.com/press/content-preserves08.htm)- MARCH 5, 2008 -
On Sale March 7th!
Preservation Hall proudly presents Midnight Preserves, an intimate concert series during the 2008 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival weekends. With the legendary venue as the backdrop, the concert series kicks off the first weekend with a homecoming show by the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, the legendary The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, an acoustic duo with jam impresarios Benevento/Russo. The second week features an array of music with the all-star combo of Tab Benoit, Johnny Sansone and Big Chief Monk Boudreaux, followed by a rare solo acoustic show with Grammy Award and multiple W.C. Handy award winner, John Hammond. The Rebirth Brass Band bring their urgent pulsating beats of contemporary brass while legendary New Orleans drummer Shannon Powell and his Group pay tribute to Smokey Johnson, The Kings of Drums . Preservation Hall Recordings will premiere two of their latest projects, The Lastie Family Gospel Choir plus Carl Leblanc’s 7th Ward Griot album release parties. In keeping with tradition, The New Orleans Bingo! Show will close out the 2008 Midnight Preserves with a late night of carnival revelry. Tickets will be available through http://midnightpreserves.frontgatetickets.com.

Wow, thanks Mich. Saw Wardell Quzergue there last year, first time inside. Really, ah, intimate, to be sure.
Checked through all of this and the websites. Anyone else see a time for the tix sales?

Blitzzzzz: How did this work out last year? (Are the shows in the Hall itself, or in the courtyard out back? Was it overly crowded?)

Blitzzzzz: How did this work out last year? (Are the shows in the Hall itself, or in the courtyard out back? Was it overly crowded?)
The show was in the hall itself. Wasn't really all that crowded, but I think Wardell might not be as well known as Tab or Monk Boudreux. Since that was also the show that caught my eye, I would guess those shows might get pretty tight.

Thanks Blitzzzzz. If I recall correctly, there was a Galactic show at the Hall last year -- I imagine that could have been might cozy/crowded.

Yeah, I suppose so! Nice to see someone else is still around. I'm usually reading/posting afterwork so it gets pretty late here on the East side.

We went to John Cleary on the Sat night last year... was too crowded for me in such a small space. Didn't seem to bother anyone else though. :)
I saw a sold-out Stanton show there during fest. It was in the main room, but they sold tix based on the capacity of the room plus the courtyard. Result was, it you weren't there early, you couldn't get into the room at all. They did have speakers set up in the courtyard, though.

The site is working again today.
I purchased John Hammond tickets and got an e-mail receipt. There is a reference on the site that tickets "will be mailed not later than two weeks before the show."

Added note: I was concerned about the 2 week time frame because I am leaving about 9 days before the show and mail is sometimes delayed to Canada, so I emailed them today.
Within hours, I got a response:
Your tickets should get sent out before the 2 week time period. If you don't have your tickets by the time you leave let us know you have not received your tickets. Contact us so we can take steps to ensure you are accommodated. Please let us know if you have additional questions or concerns.
Enjoy the show!
I feel quite reassured. :)

Mine came yesterday also. If there is a crowd walking from the HI to there I'd love to tag along (literally). I'm a little (very) freightened of walking alone in the Qtr nowdays. (I think I can keep up, it just won't be pretty.)

It looks like the Apr 25th Early Show...Preservation Hall with Special Guests... will include Terence Blanchard as one of the special guests.
That's pretty tempting...
Two tickets of this concert, by the way , are in the raffle as part of a package donated by Preservation Hall (https://ssl.perfora.net/www.threadheadraffle.org/sess/utn;jsessionid=1547fc356ac52e9/shopdata/0140_Concert+Tickets/product_details.shopscript?article=0080_Preservati on%2BHall%2BGift%2BPackage%2B%3D28162%3D29)
