RIP Johnny Gordon

This week, we heard that longtime Bourbon Street piano player and singer Johnny Gordon passed away in North Carolina at the age of 70. A mass will be held for Gordon at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church (411 N. Rampart St.) Saturday at 12:30, which will be followed by a jazz funeral from the church to Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop, where a reception will be held.

Not typically into that type of thing, but he was GREAT!! Nice guy.

One of my most favorite jazzfest memories is hanging out with my friends at Lafitte's with my friends after a long day at the fest, drinking beam and cokes and sitting at the piano listening to Johnny tear it up.

Wish i was down in NOLA for the jazz funeral...this is one fellow who truly deserves a great sendoff.
