I saw the Crowes last night at the Somerville Theater - now featuring Luther Dickinson of NMA fame, and it was incredible. They only played one of their "standards" - a sick version of Thorn in my pride - and the whole show was incredible. Played straight through the new album and i'd say 9 of 11 were great.

And Luther makes a great band twice as good. I feel like I did when I first saw Derek Trucks with the Allmans.

You could tell he was loving it too. Rich still looks miserable up there, but the rest of the band was having a blast with each other and in awe of Luther's solos.

If you sign up for the BC's newsletter, you get a free download of the BCs playing tunes from different venues with backup singers. I dig them, never been a huge fan but this is really, really good.

Thanks so much for the download tip - nice stuff with Luther. Different in a way from the past lineups (I'm a Marc Ford fan) but richer in a lot of areas. I've been listening all morning, and it took me back to the BC's Fest set a couple of years ago.

Re: the livedownload page - is that what became of Nugs.net? I was gettin' horrible bitrates, but that may be my end.

Did you see that run at the Fillmore? man... 6 nights - lots of guests... I almost stopped my whining about the timing of the shows so close to Christmas, the $$, and living 90+ minutes away in a backwater of SF again! Please post any reviews or stories about this epic series of shows, you SF funkies.
