Per AmyP's request on the Geaux Saints thread, here is a diet and exercise thread to share your ideas, what's working for you.

Here's what is happening with me. I have put on an amazing amount of post-thing depression pounds. That is compounded by severe arthritis in both knees, so where I used to be able to excercise to take off weight, that's not an option now. But I had to do something.
Over Christmas, I found that I could ride a recumbent bike without pain to my knees, so on Dec. 30th we bought one & it is set up in front of the tv. I am up to 5miles a day on it. I also bought Bob Greene's "Best Life" diet book, mainly for the recipes and so far, hebjamn hasn't realised that "we" are on a diet and I've lost 10# since 12/30/06. My goal is 35# by fest, which is 2# a week.
Another great free resource is: www.fitday.com, tracks your weight, food, activities, etc.

So, what are ya'll doing?

Now that the business travel has let up, I'm exercising again. I do 20-30 minutes on the stairmaster in the apartment complex's little workout room, and sometimes add a little bit of weights in after. Trying to get there 4-5 times a week. And trying to eat sensibly, though that is going less well. Hoping for a pound a week, but we shall see.

Since my b-day (Jan. 6) I've been walking around Bayou St. John (near my apartment), starting at 1 mile 4-5 times a week and hoping to go up to 1.25 this week, adding 1/4 to 1/2 mile a week until I get to 2+ miles a day 4-5 times a week. Staying away from King Cake (tough, given that one shows up at work daily) and cutting down on beer, although there tends to be a direct increase in the Scotch consumption when that happens. Also trying cut down on carbs a la Sugar Busters or South Beach. Goal is 30 lb. by Fest. Keep me motivated, y'all!

Good job everyone! (Darn men and their fast weight loss) ;)

Well I just started a week ago, did tae bo 4 days and went out dancing 2, did nothing yesterday (hangover!) also ate a real bad breakfast (I was down 3 pounds, now back to 2). Eating lean cuisines, veggies, and light yogurt smoothies. Drinking water and green tea.

I started South Beach this morning, and I'm doing The Firm 3-4 times a week (started that 3 weeks ago. My arms are looking a little less flabby, at least to me they are). We'll see what happens. I must be on some new total improvement kick because I got contact lenses last Thursday.

Best boost for the whole thing...I went to a show in a leopard dress and heels last week, and the band appreciated it. ;)

That's the reward, eh Bluesgirl? I'd just like to fit back into half the cute things in my closet ;)

Forgot about goals. 10 pounds would be fine, my driver's license wouldn't be a lie. 20 pounds would be great, most of my clothes would fit again. 30 pounds and I'd be ecstatic, but I think I need to come to terms with the fact that I'm just not going to be my 20s weight in my 30s :)

Good luck to all of us trying to lose a few. A few pounds had snuck back on me the past year, so I am working on it again - so far 8 pounds down.

I am not a good exerciser, so have no thoughts on that. For diet, I just cut back across the board -- cannot do the low-carb thing.

Another useful website for monitoring your progress is Daily Plate
http://www.thedailyplate.com It lets you record your weight and measurements, your food intake, your exercise and tracks everything for you.

Wow, that's great everybody! Ib, that's awesome you found a bike that you can ride. I know you're happy. That's cool. And congrats on the weight you lost so far.

Amy, I was wondering where you were yesterday, lol. Hate hangovers! Just horrid. Glad you're feeling better, Miss Tae Bo.

I myself am starting ballroom dancing classes tomorrow night. I'm not gonna have any set goal; just whatever happens happens. I've always wanted to take ballroom dancing and what a cool way to meet people.

Good luck to everybody! :D

I'm going on the "Lake Tahoe" Diet.

In two weeks, I hope to be skiing in soooo much powder that I lose 10 pounds AND still get to eat and drink to my belly's content.

Then I'll be ready to tackle my other favorite kind of powder...

Yeah, tough for skiing all around the country-New Hampshire's govenor is actually thinking about declaring a state of emergency due to so much lost revenue from the ski areas.

As for my diet and exercise plans, I am back in the gym (try to do three days cardio, 3 days weights) and eating (or trying) to eat right-balancing the carbs, with proteins and calories. I am down about 8# since just after new years, but I tell you it is tough not being able to skate or ski right now as those were my main ways to lose lbs. during the winter.
Good luck everyone-great support group for everything else ;) maybe we can help each other here too

okay, i'm one of y'all on this thread - ibj, i too have seemed to put on quite a lot post-thing, seems like drinking too much wine every night (seems if you open a bottle at 7:00 its gone by 10:00 easy) - so, i decided that Jan. 2, 2007 would be time to get back to being healthy and in shape - here is what i've done - I signed up with www.myfooddiary.com - its $9.00 a month, but lets you track your food (you can even enter and save your own recipes and it calculates all the nutritional info), exercise etc - every day it gives you a daily report and does graphs and stuff ....

also, i've returned to the gym and have started taking Spinning classes again - spinning is a great work out, if you haven't tried it, don't be afraid, the first class will kick your butt, but if you can make it through the first one, you'll be addicted - and, it gets you in shape fast. Since Jan. 2 i've been to the gym everyday - i read somewhere you have to do something for 39 days to make it a habit, i'm on 14 now......

trying to be more aware of what i eat, and eat breakfast (i never do that) - trying to stay away from really heavy food at least during the week (can't do it on the weekend, i enjoy going out to our local NOLa restaurants too much....)

Have cut back a TON on drinking (however, i can't say much for this weekend, given the Saints and all) - i don't have any wine in the house for now (this is not to say, i don't still enjoy a glass of wine at dinner on the weekends) and am drinking as much water as I possibly can.....

Finally, i got a golden retriever puppy for christmas (i don't know if anyone remembers, but i had a 15 year old golden retriever Barkley, who i sadly had to put down shortly after the Fest last year) - needless to say, i've been walking a little more......

Haven't gotten on a scale yet, except for my initial weigh in (i'm only going to get on the scale every two week) - but i have to admit, i am feeling better - also, its giving me more will power to say no thanks when people are going out for drinks after work on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thrusday (yeah, i work in a lawfirm....SOMEONE is always going down for drinks....there's a bar on teh first floor of my building......)

ANyway, this is what i'm doing....glad to know i'm not the only one on this endeavor - Good luck to everyone!!!!!

Amy Winette
01-15-2007, 05:02 PM
Good for you! And yay on the puppy (though sad about your other doggie too) :(

Me I can't really cut the wine out, though it has taken me a week and a half to get through a bottle here at home (no, I'm not counting the times I'm out) :) It's good for your heart anyway ;)

MGbaby, I'm going to look at myfooddiary.com I used to subscribe to weight watchers online, just to be able to use their recipe builoder, but it only gives you the points value of servings & was $16.95/month. I recently found doit.com which has a recipe builder & costs $40, but you own the software & there are no further costs. It has a free trial, but I wasn't completely overly in love with it.

KEEP IT UP, FESTERS!!!

ibj - definitely try out myfooddiary.com - besides the recipe building it has forums, a place to share recipes, all kinds of things....

yeah, i can't totally give up the wine myself, but at the moment, i don't trust my willpower, so its better not to have it in teh house....

Oh, and the Puppy's name is Rouxfus!!!! :D

We should have some sort of prize for most pounds lost or something. Some motivating factor. Along with mutual encouragement. Speaking of which I'm working from home as the office is closed for MLK day and I'm gonna go do the tae bo tape now! Just had some 1% milk (can't stand skim) and tomatos for a snack.

Back when I was on Atkins, I used the online version of fitday.com.

You input your food, and it tracks calories, carbs, fat, etc. You can also save custom foods, if you have a recipe you make a lot. And it's all free.

When I need to add a recipe with Fitday, I just go to tomorrow (which is empty) and add the ingredients as my food for that day. Then write the daily totals down, and then enter them as a "custom food". Then delete them from tomorrow. A bit of a pain, I guess, but it works.

Water's a big problem for me IBJ... for diets AND exercise. I do a decent warm up and down but still cramp up horridly after my daily session on the bike. I keep getting told to drink MORE water. I ask ya... how much can a koala bear?

Despite trying to eat well and exercise more (yes, yes I admit I'm on the weight loss kick too) am feeling really run down. I've been refusing to take a vitamin supplement 'cos I'm simply not into popping pills (you'd think they'd be civilised and bring out something liquid with a bourbon flavour). So anyway, my mini goal is get over my pill phobia, pop those suckers and let them do their stuff.

Too funny Gris! Just before Christmas we were treated to 4 days of luxury in a gorgeous winery curtesy of the older one's company. My penance was a black tie dinner to which I not only had to wear a DRESS but friggin heels as well! Had to practise walking in them every night for a week (they were all of 1" high) but am pleased to report I managed to stay upright the whole night!

Yall have inspired me-well, at least for the moment. Here's hoping I can make myself get back in the pool at the health center i joined last year and haven't gotten my money's worth from.
I know lots about diets. Name one. I've been on it. Except for jenny craig. Probably lost and gained 200 pounds over the years. It's a yoyo thing.

Water-love water so easy for me but I am particular about it if I have the option to be. Much easier to drink lots if it's room temperature and Mountain Valley Spring Water. Jenn, have you tried flavoring it a little? Like maybe with a little juice or noncaffeinated tea? Or even better-green tea.

Vitamins: saturn, I don't like the pill thing either but they have liquid vitamins at health food stores and at smoothie king. My fave is Source of LIfe- a blended concoction of veggies and fruits. It looks yucky-very green-but tastes decent. Gulp down 2 tablespoons a day and you're good to go.

The plan: I am a fan of Dr Andrew Weil. His site is www.drweil.com
His suggestions are doable and gradual. He has written books on many aspects of health. His latest is the anti-aging diet which centers on reducing inflammation. Might be helpful with the arthritis, ibj.

ps. ibj, the dude you mentioned the other day whose book you bought was on oprah yesterday.

I am a huge(no pun intended) advocate for breakfast when dieting. I feel like I sound like my mom but breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It starts your metobolism up. If you workout in the am, just have something small before and then eat some eggs and some lean meat (turkey bacon isn't half bad) some fresh fruit etc. Hope everyone is still going strong-fest is in 100 days y'all-we can do it!

Well, I drug myself to the gym today. 30 minutes of cardio, drank some water, did some sit-ups, drank some water. Came home and had a veggie filled lunch, drank some water. Now I'm STARVIN' and I gotta' pee.....
Trying to read every thread in it's entirety to take my mind off of FOOD!!!!

I usually drink Corona, Corona light or Canajun beer....not a clue about American light beer. Thoughts? If I drink vodka, chances are I'm getting hammered tomorrow night and I don't really want to cuz we're going to Epcot the next morning then flying home at night.

Very, very brave of you Corona. CM, then Epcot, then a plane ride????
I'd be lucky to make it out of bed after a CM show.
I can't help you with the low cal drink. My drink of choice is bourbon and I'm told that's got the highest calorie count out there. I'd go with the Corona Light if I had to make the decision. Vodka before Epcot? Be very afraid!

Here's a thought - go give blood before drinking the vodka. It will take a lot less to get you in the right state of mind, thus saving many unwanted calories.

He's got a real easy program in 3 phases. It's all the basics; move more, eat less and it's a very healthy eating, but super easy, no refined carbs. It's kind of hard to explain; but no points, carbs, calories, etc to count.

this is so funny, just got done voting for some of my fave jazzfest foods, now back to reality...this is a tough one for a group of people who love to eat and drink and party so much!

I am trying to somewhat follow weightwatchers after being completely off the wagon the last couple of months - I find the writing stuff down part helps. and drinking water during the day....For exercise most days I go to Curves at my lunch break, it's so close to work

Another great free resource is: www.fitday.com, tracks your weight, food, activities, etc.

According to fitday, the calorie & fat count of the half-bag of spicy nacho Doritos I ate on Sunday, which I dipped in sour cream, had approximately 767 calories and 51 grams of fat. Forget you, fitday, you insensitive beast!!!

Hey Piscesgirl! How ya been? :)

Well, I had my first class of ballroom dancing last night and it was FUN! There were a lot of people there. I learned the basic step, the sway, the lock turn and the promenade w/a turn. The last one was my favorite cuz it was fun to twirl, lol. From first glance it looked like there were maybe a couple of prospects, too. ;)

Yeah, Pisces, but look at it this way-you got your dairy in with the sour cream, your breads in with the chips, if the sour cream had chive or if they were the nacho ones with lime-that is a veggie or fruit-most of your food groups all wrapped up in one deeee-licious snack oh yeah and spices (spice is for sure the fifth food group, you know dat) So yes, damn you fitday, damn you for eternity!

I knew I'd put on a few pounds this fall, but finally got on the scale and realized it was 12 pounds. Yikes! Now I gotta lose all of that PLUS the other weight I've been trying to lose forever.

We're going out to buy a treadmill on Sunday.

Re: Vitamins - I have a similar problem with vitamin pills. They upset my stomach and I burp vitamin all day. My doctor told me to get the Flintstones Chewable Vitamins - Complete. It has 100% of adult requirements, and it tastes like a sweet'n'sour. I've been on them for years now, with no stomach problems. I feel a little silly checking to see if I'm getting ready to eat a Dino or not though.

I'm an every day weigher too, Amy, but Bob Greene said put away the scale for a month. I couldn't do that, I did peek after two weeks and it was good. Weighing every day is depressing because you could be up/down a pound from hour to hour because of water weight.

You are definitely correct on that one girl. Screw the scale and go by how your clothes fit, especially if you're working out!

Well, the party is over and overall we didn't do too bad. Made some decent food choices, could have been worse but could have been better. Drank mostly Corona and then coors lite when the bar ran out of Corona....had about 10 beers though....oops! Then we moved onto Vodka when we hit the next bar til 3 a.m. Did Epcot the next day but almost died of exhaustion. Up at 3:45 a.m. Wednesday, into Orlando for 9:30 a.m., then to Magic Kingdom all day until 5, out the door for the concert at 6:30 and out till 3 a.m. and then back out to Epcot all day, then the airport then the drive home...got in at midnight last night. Exhausting but man oh man...what a blast! I'll post about it on the other thread for Cowboy Mouth. Back on the program today :(

Anybody making good for you snacks for the game tomorrow. I'm making veggie egg rolls and crab rangoon (baked not fried), shrimp fried brown rice.

I really wan'ted some hummus for dipping, but the tahini (sesame butter) in it really ups the fat/calories. I found a very low fat recipe & I made it today and it is sooooo good.

Nearly Fat Free roasted red pepper hummus

1 can garbanzo beans, rinsed & drained
1/2 - 3/4 cup fat free plain yogurt (the more the creamier)
1/4 cup roasted red pepper (from a jar)
juice of 1 lemon
4-6 cloves of garlic
1/4 tsp ground cumin
6-8 drops of toasted sesame oil (incredible flavor for little fat)

Throw it all in the food processor and blend till smooth, makes 2cups.

Nutritional info vs store bought hummus for 1/2 cup:
calories 105 vs 210
fat 1 vs 12
saturated 0 vs 2
cholesterol 1 vs 1
sodium 443 vs 475
carbs 19 vs 18
fiber 5 vs 7
protein 7 vs 10

vit C 30 vs 0

OK, I usually double/triple this recipe, but it's a good one.

Seafood Gumbo (serves 8)

1/4c. canola oil
1/3c. all purpose flour
1/2c. onion, chopped
1/2c. sweet red pepper, chopped
1/2c. green bell pepper, chopped
2 ribs celery, chopped
4 cloves garlic, chopped
2 bay leaves
3c. chicken broth
1 16oz can diced tomatoes
1 1/2c. sliced okra (fry it in a saute pan first to decrease the slime)
salt/pepper/cayenne to taste
12oz shrimp, peeled & deveined
6oz. crabmeat
1/2pint shucked oysters, drained
3c. hot cooked rice

make a roux with the flour & oil until the color of a pecan shell on medium heat, stirring constantly. Add the veggies, seasonings still stirring until veggies are soft.
Gradually stir in hot chicken broth. Stir in undrained tomatoes, okra, and bay leaves. Bring to boiling. Reduce heat and simmer, covered, for 30 minutes.
Stir in shrimp, crabmeat, and oysters. Simmer, covered, about 5 minutes more or till shrimp turn pink and oysters curl around the edges. Discard bay leaves. Serve in bowls with rice.

Makes 6 Servings

I also add basil, fresh parsley, Lea Perrins & crystal hit sauce which do not add much to the nutritional data. :)

Excellent tip on the Okra IB! I hate okra cause of the slime, so usually leave it out if I make gumbo. I am nearly out of Crystal, having developed some kind of obsession with dirty rice drenched in it. Note to self: bring home a bucket or two from fest.

You don't need okra in your gumbo (although it's very very good!), it's ok to use file, or just your roux can be the thickener. Go with what you like. :)

Jenn's totally correct, you need the file powder to gum up the gumbo in the old school way, and it doesn't give it too okra-y of a taste (for dems dat don't like okra). :D

Girl, don't worry about making a seafood gumbo, if you can't get the fresh stuff. In the winter (now), even we usually make a chicken/sausage gumbo.

Boil a chicken for the meat & broth, use smoked sausage or andouille , if you can get it. If not, kielbasa or chorizo will do just fine.

Leave out the okra. Just make your roux, add the veggies, then the chicken broth, chicken & pre-sauteed sausage. Add file or not. Make the gumbo your own. :)

If you really want to cut down on the calories and fat in your gumbo, make the roux using Tony's (or Zatarain's) instant roux mix. It is basically browned flour and you add water and heat until thick like a roux. This may be blasphemy to purists, but I've gotten pretty consistent (and good) reviews for my gumbo made that way. If making seafood, I boil the shrimp heads and shells to make a stock. If making chicken and andouille, I use boneless skinless breasts (browned in as littel oil as possible) and commercial chicken stock. Tony's andouille (if you can find it) has just 5 grams of fat per 2-oz. serving (versus 12 - 16 grams for some of the other brands) and it adds just as much flavor to the gumbo (IMHO). Also, if you serve the gumbo over brown rice you can hardly tell the difference, and you can cut down on the "bad" carbs too.

No okra or tomatos for me, just file'.

After all of those recipe hints, this is boring, but in the interest of keeping myself motivated and honest, I've lost 3 lbs. 27 to geaux.

PS - I've used smoked turkey sausage in gumbo and in jambalaya before, and you can't really tell the difference. I have friends that don't eat red meat but will eat poultry, so turkey sausage it is.

This prolly should go on the recipe thread...but before it does, how much file do you put into your recipe IB? It's not listed there. It might be one of those secrets only the cook knows! Your tips are fabulous everyone...you got my mouth watering! Okra might be the Rodney Dangerfield of veg, it just don't "get no respect".

Okay, i have to admit, I ALWAYS use the instant roux - although I'm originally from NOLa - i think because my parents are originally from the North i just wasn't born with the Roux gene - EVERY TIME i've tried to make roux from scratch, no matter how long i stir and all, i can NEVER seem to get it right - i've actually thrown out entire pots of offwhite colored "gumbo" and started over, after running to store to get the instant roux mix.......:o

Hey, nothing wrong with using shortcuts at all-as long at they are good shortcuts. In fact, I make (from what people tell me) a pretty darn good cheesecake and I use a pre-made crust-different texture than springform
I promise not to drift off topic any more /fingers crossed behind back/

Back to the diet after yesterday watching both my Saints and Pats lose yesterday-somehow I must persevere

It really should be added at the last minute, and for sure not to a boiling pot. Put it on the table and let everyone add their own, if they want. A little goes a long way.

You'll be fit as a fiddle in no time! When you work out regularly, your body burns more calories even during times when you're not active. You'll start to see results soon, I'm sure. Even feeling stronger is a great benefit, isn't it?:)

This is an awesome thread, ya'll. I was really bumming because I had a horrendous weekend diet and exercise wise. I was ready to give up. Read it yesterday morning and it sent me straight to the gym and again today, the same thing. I doubt seriously I have dropped any lbs. I haven't weighed lately. (That's an accomplishment itself. Usually, I weigh BEFORE I get in the shower and again AFTER....don't ask.....) Anyway, point is, I feel like it's helping to be able to come here and see everyone else with the same struggles encouraging each other. THANKS ALL!

I agree about the scale girls...I'm trying to stay off it until Friday. This is hard as hell but I keep telling myself "baby steps" and one day or hour at a time....a trainer told me to break down the day into blocks if you have to....do what you have to do that was scheduled in that block of time...ie morning workout, healthy breakfast, lunch, snacks, dinner etc. I find that helps when I start to get pissed off or overwhelmed. It is friggin hard though and I for one HATE saying no to myself for anything :(

MG...jogging 1.5 to 2 miles several days a week at lunch on the levee near the Huey P. Narrow. I go with a guy at work so we kind of motivate each other. Then on Saturdays I'm SUPPOSED to do a longer run. This past weekend I didn't swing that cause our Saints celebration started Friday night and me didn't feel so good. Yea, he's pretty vicious but I like him. Or liked him. When I did that.

I think Harry Connick, Jr. should do a workout series. I would FAITHFULLY do my exercises. No lie. I'd prolly be the skinniest biyotch on the planet.

okay, so it was weekly weigh in - lost 2.5 lbs since last thursday - and, the heartrate monitor is WAY cool - tells you how many calories you burned etc. etc......keep motivated everyone!

Been TRYING to get there.....but i'm not up to your speed....one of these days i'd like to actually run the crescent city classic, but it won't be this year....

MG, you could definitely do the Classic this year, even if you haven't started yet. You'd be surprised at how quickly you get used to it. And you overestimated my speed for sure! I'm talking 11-12 minute miles...slooow jog. But the Mardi Gras Marathon (I only do half) is a blast and the Classic is a fun one too.

Wow. 208 posts on this topic. I'm impressed. I train in preparation for Fest all year long, working out at gym three days a week for about 2 hours each, often thinking of Fest while working out. That really motivates me. Fortunately I also eat healthy most of the time and my weight does not vary more than a few pounds throughout year.

I'M READY!

I hope ya'll are right!!! The water is tough for me, but I will give that a try. I did this 2 years ago and it literally took me 4 or 5 months before I saw ANY weight loss at all. I was hopeful that it would be a little easier this go 'round. If nothing else, I feel like I'm in pretty good shape. Just wish I looked a little better in my Fest clothes! Csoul - consider getting a heart monitor...i just got one, and it gives you a real good idea of where you are when working out and also tracks the actual calories your burning.....and its a cool little gadget that might give you some motivation - also, a bunch of us on this board are fans of various fitness websites that let you track your exercise and what you eat - i like myfooddiary.com (which is $9.00 per month) but a lot of people really like fitday.com (ibjamn, let me know if that's correct) - that one is free...don't give up....

The treadmill I use counts the calories & tracks my heart rate as well. I've been burning close to 500 calories each workout for the last week. The 2 weeks before that, I was burning around 350 - 400.
I will look at the fitness websites tonight......right after my margaritta....

At least you're down Amy! You've probably lost more inches then weight. Sounds like you're doing all the right things! I'm gonna weigh in tomorrow, I'm trying to put it off each day so I can learn to go longer and longer without the scale. The scale makes me nuts and I get pissed off and say f*ck it when I dont get the results I expect. What a mind game. My trainer says she sees a difference from over a month ago and my endurance is much better than before. Weight loss or no weight loss, I sure as feel a whole lot more energetic, alert and less stressed now that I'm working out :)

I'm with you on the drinking.... my only concession was switching to diet coke.

Have my visit with Jenny at noon (time check: 10.35am). Did really well weight loss wise last week, but when you have a lot to lose that kinda happens. I didn't do enough exercise this week though... holy crap it's been humid here.

As for drinking.... my 'consultant' at Jenny Craig will ask if I kept my alcahol intake to 3 or 4. Of course I'll admit to it but won't mention that was per night and not for the week!

Last year I was doing pretty good, and had lost about 60# by the time Jazz Fest came around. With my heel spur, bad knees and hips, I've done less and less walking and any form of dancing, which is my favorite form of exercise, and I've gained back about 25 to 30 lbs. This has me down, and I'm missing MG because of finally getting the foot operated on... got a shot in there today, to see if it helps the constant burning, but I've started doing yoga, in hopes of just making myself feel a bit better physically. I've stopped drinking all the water I had been, and I'm sure thats part of what really helps with weight loss, so I bought 2 cases of 1L bottles of water the other day, but I've got to actually drink it and not just carry it around! Hmm, does that count as walking with weights? I've also got to withdrawl from simple carbs and stick strictly to complex carbs, eat more veggies and fruits, too. Of course, it's been pretty cold up here, snowed crazy last night, and I immediately want a cup of hot chocolate every night before going to bed... cold comfort food, I guess... but maybe I'll have to switch over to hot green tea and eat some raw almonds or pecans when I want something with crunch and stick to lean cuisines for lunch instead of a meatball sub with provolone, or chicken pot pie... besides I know losing the weight I gained will be very good for my poor feet. Good luck to you and all of us wannabe losers... weight losers that is, so we can fest better in 2007!

Hang in there... I had a dreadful week considering booze and exercise but still dropped a kilo (that's about 2lb in your speak). If I can do it y'all can too!

For the record, I started 10 kilos up from last fest, which was 3 kilos higher than when I left home for holidays... so at 2.2lb per kilo you do the math (no, no, not the lawyers... the accountants). All I know is it's a long way to go and now only under 90 days to do it in! I won't eat in NYC before we get to Fest, right!

As for alcahol... I have spent the day drinking and enjoying NOLA dvds... that doesn't count, right?
