Hotwire has a 1 star listed for 2nd weekend. They have listed the Days Inn and Radison on Canal as 2 or 3 stars in the past so I can't imagine anyplace that much dumpier.

the Canal Street Hotel is 1 star, offering $49 rate.
from the reviews i've read, they should pay you to stay there.

I think its the French Market Inn. 2.5 in Hotwire, but TripAdvisor user reviews absolutely trash the place. Every review in 2008 has been bad.

I read the reviews, since our friends were staying there this past weekend and sorta wanted us to join them. We opted out, in part due to the reviews. A few reviews were very positive. Let's face it; it's very inexpensive in a pretty good location. Many of the reviews said to not stay there under any circumstances. That said, our friends (who are not very picky) thought it was okay. I think they'd stay there again. We thought their room looked dingy and the air in the hotel stale. The only problems they had were the sounds of the streetcar and the fact that the hotel wouldn't budge on checkout time. They had to speak to a manager and promise not to tell anyone else that they got an extra hour to noon. It's hard to run a half-marathon that starts at 7, recuperate enough to walk back, shower, pack and check out by 11. We paid more to stay on the Westbank, but we were happy.

It is with almost certainty the French Market Inn located on Decatuer. The daze between are showing $89. I would suggest the 3* downtown option at $75, that 3* hotel with almost certainty is the Country Inn and Suites. That hotel is ranked #1 by trip advisor. I have never stayed there but I did check out a room at the French Market Inn and it was small and has a flat screen TV that hangs on the wall. I was not impressed.

Linza - I've stayed in the CBD for at least 5 years (and again this year) - what hotels are you looking at?

We are at the Hilton Garden Inn during the first weekend, for $139 a night...could have saved a few bucks somewhere else, but i married a girl with high standards (except for her choice in men i guess).

Second weekend we are back in the 1/4 at the Iberville Suites. I got a rediculously good rate (.gov rate) there...i still dunno where i am going to be staying in the tween week...I got such a good deal midweek at the Garden District Hotel last year that I am sorta holding out to see what pops up...staying in there again would be best since I can do my laundry at Igor's. :)

country inns & suites is a great hotel. I've been staying both weekends there since they opened 4 or 5 years ago. For the past few years their weekend rate for JF was $189, this year its $250...so I doubt it's the hotel listed for $75. EDIT: if your talking the country inns @ 315 Magazine Street.

I said with almost certainty, and I stand by that statement. I consider myself a Hotwire expert and I am willing to bet money that the 3* hotel on the daze between for $75 is the country inn and suites. Anyone up for the challenge?

The Canal Street Hotel is the old Days Inn with a new name.

Linza, keep your HIFQ ressie and be patient. By April, sub-$100 deals at decent places will be available for 1st weekend, almost certainly.

Dan-I'm almost positive its the Chateau LeMoyne. What kind of rate are they showing? I stayed there last year and would like to again this year but I'm not seeing any "deals" yet.

Thats what I think it is too ... its at 113 a night, (4/26-5/6). I also Thought that Ramada Plaza Inn on Bourbon was 2.5 stars also ... both have pools ... I like the centralized location of the Ramada better though ... not that the lemoyne is bad

Actually....I think I goofed-The 3* is The Chateau LeMoyne; you're probably right that its the Ramada Plaza at 2.5*. I'm going blind looking at all this stuff. I'll probably wind up sleeping in Jackson Square Park!!!!

I HIGHLY doubt that its the Ramada. I have said a few times now that it is the French Market Inn. If you think the price is right for that property pull the trigger.

It was the St Marie Antoinette (The 2.5 star in the Quarter). My friend just got it last night.
