Was going to buy tickets for the Galactic show until I saw the total. With shipping and service charges, two tickets were going to cost me over $113.00. Looks like I'll be making alternate plans. That ends up costing a lot more than two full days at the fairgrounds. Not even close to worth it IMHO.

Hey Now bbcfm, everything related to a superfly show is overpriced...... The 6 dollar -before tip- cans of Heineken at their shows (including the riverboat shows) make drinks at the House of Blues seem like a good deal. If people stay away from the superfly events due to excessive prices, maybe they will re-evalueate costs.

when i rule the world, service fees will be illegal. i mean how much does it cost to print & mail a ticket? geez, what a racket.

Does anyone remember the 2001 Superfly tickets fiasco? I still have these unused tickets: Funky Meters @ Tips, Moe. Late night @ Tips, Jacques-Imos Cafe allstars at Maple Leaf, and GAT @ Tips.
I used to want to go to all the Superfly shows. Recently, ..not so much. Superfly is way more concerned w/ the $ Bonnaroo brings in than the JazzFest shows that they used as a stepping stone.
I would thank them though, Oysterhead,GAT, and other Theater/Boat shows were the Main reasons I went to JazzFest. Now its SO MUCH MORE!!
Superfly shows were my Gateway to the Real New Orleans and a better JazzFest.
The only way I'm on the boat this year is if The Funky Meters are on it with me! That show was just flat out RIDICULOUS!!

Hey Now Fessfan, I am still hopeful for a funky Meters night show- hopefully with no superfly involvement- as George Porter said it was in the works...... It would be great if they could hold it at Southport or the CAC, somewhere with enough space to make it enjoyable. As much as I love Tipitinas, shows held there during Mardi Gras or Fest are way too claustrophobic for my tastes.

Yeah. There definitely needs to be a least one Funky Meters show during Fest. I agree w/ you regarding the venues too. Looks like Tips and HOB are all full up on weekend nights. They did a boat show a few years ago on a wed that was incredible and not that bad crowd wise.
BBFCM- I know you from the hook. Are you staying at Threadheadquarters?

Only 2 reasons to EVER take a river boat cruise at jazz fest.
1. You've never done it before.
2. You LOVE the band that is performing.
If you can answer yes to either one of these then you should take the ride.
I however think the negatives outweigh the positives. Here are the negatives:
1. Unless you are in the VERY front you cant see the band performing. They do have speakers so you can hear it no matter where you are on the boat, you just cant see them.
2. Gotta be there before it takes off. They do wait about 45 mins after the posted time but it still sucks.
3. Prices are expensive, both tickets and drinks.
4. You are stuck on that boat.
I feel like my time and dollars are better spent at other jazzfest events.

i have been bitching about superfly for years now...it seems like they used their cred as a jazzfest promoter to parlay the whole veygoose and bongaroo thing, and have completely forgotten about their roots. even looking at the evolving bongaroo lineups over the years, its easy to see that superfly is simply out for the ca$h.
in the last few years their jazzfest shows havent been anything you couldnt catch another night, and they dont seem to be bringing anything as innovative as oysterhead to the table...same old, same old. cash them checks boys!
while i am sure i will reneg on this, i am making a concerted effort to skip out on superfly shows and shows at the HOB.
w00t, jazzfest!
