Hi All - I'm new to the board....and happy to find it.

Have been going to New Orleans every year for a while now....expect last year....and have NEVER been to Jazz Fest. Yes, it's a thorn in my side, so this year, to make up for it all - I'm going!!!

I was wondering if anyone here might have any word on Chateau Orleans? I'm waiting for word back on a reservation request.....and not too sure about the place. A few people have left remarks about it on a couple of websites. Someone said it's across from a loud, young hip-hop club. Someone else said it's a bit musty. Others said it's just fine and have been staying there for years.

I'm just happy it's in the French Quarter. It's on Burgundy, between Iberville and Bienville. That's kina enough for me (well, and it has a bed and bathroom and that kinda stuff!)

But does anyone have any thoughts or experience with the place? Anyone, Bueller ....Bueller.... anybody...?

Thanks in advance!

Welcome sunnyla. Don't know about your hotel but sounds like a great location. Just a few blocks from Louisiana MUsic Factory, just around the corner from Chateau Lemoyne where a bunch of us threadheads are staying AND just around the corner from the bus stop.

We've stayed there. We had a courtyard balcony. Nice big room, very clean. The Hotel is probably 10 years old now. The courtyard at that time was very sparse. Also the Red Fish grill had very good food, and their jazz club "Storyville" was good to get mellow in. We would stay there again.

Thanks for the feedback friends.

Hopefully my request for the week will come in! My fingers are crossed.

I think you are confusing Chateau Sonesta, which is a fairly new Hotel in the D. H. Holmes building connected to the Redfish Grill (also Bourbon, Canal St and Iberville) with the older Chateau Orleans, which is on Burgundy and is an older Resort/Timeshare Complex.

Yes, that sounds like the Chateau Sonesta where we stayed last year too. Afraid I don't know anything about Chateau Orleans.

Yes, the Sonesta is a VERY different place than the Orleans. I inquired and almost booked the Orleans but decided against it for a few reasons. Really, all I can tell you is that I wasn't happy about the location. I've stayed in that block before and it was kinda seedy. Not too too bad, but I didn't feel safe walking around there at night by myself. Otherwise, it seemed decent and the ower was super nice. I spoke to him about 5 times on the phone and he was really sweet. I say, if the price is right and you're not traveling solo, go for it. This is just my opinion...
