I feel silly asking but... how do I post with an avatar?

O.k. I'm not the best one for this, but I'll try...
Go to user CP at the top of the page. That will get you to the place to make the change.
You have to have your image in an avatar size --80x80 pixles
Go to www.photobucket.com and download your image to the site in the correct size. You can then transfer your photo from the photobucket url to the avatar space on this site.
I hope this works, I'm not the most technically proficient one here, but I am the first to answer your call! ;)

Why is it that everytime I try this it says too large. On photobucket it says the avatar upload size is 100X75 which is too big. Driving me crazy.

tdb...can't believe everything that Photobucket says. Before you even load to Photobucket, right click on the avatar you think you want, then click on Properties....it will tell you the size...anything over 80 x 80 will not work on this site. Even if it's 50 x 90...or 30 x 100...can't be over 80x80 so check it out to prevent lots of grief.

I did click on the properties and it is 80X80. Then when I upload it and copy and paste it, it says too large.

Try www.infranview.com (http://www.infranview.com) and shrink it to less than 80x80, that should work. Then upload to photobucket.

Blue...working on yours now...it is exactly 80 x 80. I have not gotten anything to work that is more that 79 x 79, but haven't given up yet.

PC...your's is too large....70 x 100. That 100 exceeds the bounds. If I can shrink blues, I will try yours as well, but don't hold your breath.

Poker, I've tried everything I know how. When I change it, it will no longer display, like it's copy protected somehow. One of the programs I use to resize allows me to copy protect the new resized image, so maybe this image already is protected...sorry. It's a great pic, and certainly looks like you! Is that one of your new ballroom dance outfits?
