Do you remember this thread ....about the best sandwich in America. as chosen by NBC Today? (http://www.nojazzfest.com/chat/showthread.php?p=94695)

The winner, over the Central Grocery Muffaletta (for some reason neither the Jazz Fest Soft-Shell Po Boy nor the Cochon du Lait Po Boy were invited) was a restaurant in Philly called Vesuvio (http://www.vesuvio-online.com/vsite.htm)that makes a BLT Cheesesteak using Filet Mignon.

Last time we were in Philly, we tried it (here is the lovely Mrs Mich with her lunch)

The truth is...the Central Grocery, Katz, The Carnegie Deli, Red's in Maine and lovers of the Ferdi Special have nothing to fear...the Vesuvio sandwich is very good but it ain't THE best. In fact, several items on the menu were better. But the food in general was very good and definitely worth the cab ride and ambience was even reminiscent of the fabled New Orleans Neighborhood Style of Restaurant.

DiNic's Italian Pork Sammiches... On the outside ends are mine and Rosie's Italian Roasted Pork with Extra Sharp Provolone and Roasted Long Hots, in the middle is PapaRoux's Italian Pulled Pork with Extra Sharp Provolone and Greens (AKA Broccoli Rabe). AtP had all ready eaten at a buffet... so no Pork for him.

Here's the whole mess of us, needing a nap after lunch. That whole show was utterly amazing! I had a great time, not only meeting AtP, and being able to see and spend some time with the Rosie's but seeing so much really cool stuff! I bought 5 pairs of earrings and lusted over a lot more... makes you want to go into business just so you can buy this stuff for yourself! We both really enjoyed it... Thanks, Rosie! Can't wait to see you again in April!
