I see where there is a Holiday Inn that says it offers free shuttles to the Ferry.
Would that be an option for Fest? To stay on the West Bank and take the Ferry over to Riverwalk area and catch a taxi or streetcar to the Fest.
WHat hours do the Ferrys run? I actually like the Ferry ride & a ride on the River might help sober me up in the AM
Sounds like a hassle to me.
Website says currently "6:00 AM - 8:45 PM 7 DAYS PER WEEK". Rosetree will know if that info is up to date.

I've stayed several times on the West Bank and enjoyed most of the hotels, BUT I come with a car. I don't think I'd do it otherwise. Seems like it would be easier for them to shuttle you across the Connection than to drive you to the ferry!?! The ferry's great, but it seems like too many pieces in the puzzle connecting with the hotel shuttle, etc.

Same with me, Stax. Joe and I stayed at that Holiday Inn a few times, some years ago. The hotel was fine - a bit rowdy at times, but fun.
But we had a car and drove back and forth across the bridge.
The shuttle is a lovely ride, but I don't know if I would depend on it for regular transporation every day.

We've rented a house 2 blocks from the ferry this year (I'm going to look at it on Wed.). We plan to drive to the Fest each day, but use the ferry and the streetcar/taxi options for night excursions.
The ferry leaves from the Algiers Point side on the half hour.
It leaves the Canal St. side on the quarter hour.
It's free for pedestrians and the charge is $1/car from one side, free from the other -- go figure.
Bon Fete!

The guy we rented from said that it runs from 6AM till midnight every day.
I hope Rosetree pipes in here soon!
I know it was midnight before the Thing. But does it matter - who's going to bed by midnight anyway?

LOL! Some of us are getting too old to run around all night and recuperating at Fest can get to be a challenge!
I'm playing it by ear (or by knee) since my new titanium knee is still in rehab. I plan to throw a gel pack into my ice chest every day to make the knee last! I hope to be well rehabbed by Fest -- my knee, not my pharmaceutical and alcohol habits.
Thanks for all the good info year 'round, Swag. Your the best!
Bon Fete!

Just got word from a friend who just moved there that the ferry stops at midnight. If you are at a late show....just going to have to cab it back over.
Heck...I go out at midnight during fest!
Rosie is in Philly this week.

Hey y'all, sorry it took so long getting back to ya....
Tangie is right....The ferry runs until midnight. If you stay on my side, if you are out late, it might not do. If you have a car, it shouldn't be a problem...HTH;)

My parents, when they were dating in the 40's, used to swim the river. Down by Buras.
