Since freestylin's post was 3-11 and #3, the others have to be early posts. BB, that's a great link. (S)he's from Steamboat Springs, so who knows! Got some great rubber flip-flops (only 8 years old) we only use for the little blue house that might work. Comfey, one size is used by all, whether they fit or not, just so we don't have to goop up our good ones. Cheap rentals.

I don't wanta sound coy but the gold fish-like swimmy things don't prefer the ornamental, shiny shoes probably because they don't wear shoes but sound a little bit like my cousin bob, not cuzzinbob, but cousin bobby who drinks a lot and smells funny but it's musk-like kind of what you'd buy at a department store but it's free. Just thought it was odd like that because I can spell to a point where I wonder why I spelled in the first place and why spelling doesn't coincide with the parental warnings that are affixed onto rap albums because who knows what they're saying in the first place. But I transgress. I got an idea. I noticed Freestyle's post was from Steamboat Springs. Lets take up a collection and use the money to run an ad in the Steamboat Springs town paper offering to trade size 9 thin/reg shoes for used thin reg. Drop some names like Prada gucci Via spiga (whatever the hell those are). This ought to bring Freestyle out of the woodwork...or find out if she has any friends like her (or him????)

Can this REALLY be the ORIGINAL freestyle?????? I would think it would be impossible to copy the login name and the date would be very hard if impossible to create. I came to Jazzfest with my (now ex) boyfriend a couple years ago. We were going to come again the next year but about a week before I found out what a fucking asshole he really is so the trip got cancelled. I might come this year with a couple girlfriends, one of which is from Metairie so we'd have a place to stay. It's all a matter of time and $$ if we can come.

It has changed...for the last 2 years or so (since the post appeared) she had 3 posts. There was an efort made to locate the first 2 posts (never found 'em). Now, since FSD has been found, she posts occasionally (not to this thread recently, though) and the count has been changing with each post...

BTW FSD, if you are the original owner of that handle, it was hijacked and has been used in a couple of threads around here(check out 'History of the Jazz Fest Poles' as an example). That's probably the reason your offer has not been more readily accepted so far.

Time to 'fess up!
Once Brewer posted her email address, anyone can be FSD. Try it yourself--go to the registration screen and try to register using freestyledesign and her email address. Put in anything for the password, Steamboat Springs CO for the location and hit enter. It will say "username already registered" and "email address already registered". Then when you go back to the forums, Voila! you are logged in as FSD.

I did some of the FSD posts but not all. I don't know if the rest are from her or from Brewer or someone else.

The myth, the legend lives on??!!??

FSD is not a figment of anyone's imagination, she's a real person who posted here late one night and doesn't remember it, and I'm sure she's a little freaked out by this quasi-cult that's sprung up around her, which she was not even aware of until a couple months ago. In spite of the controversy over people faking her posts, I think some of her recent posts were definitely her, but she keeps getting scared away again by the um, intensity, of her fan club. She doesn't realize the admiration is (oddly) sincere and that you all are not just making fun of her. Think of her as our Princess Di, our Evita, someone to be admired from afar and never truly known...

If she posts again, don't freak her out. Let her know you're not just having fun at her expense, as she has said a couple times now. Let her know it's all been in a spirit of wacky fun, a kind of admiration for the mad brilliance of that late-night post she made two years ago (see: top of this thread). That you're not just mocking her. She doesn't know that. Peace out.

I agree, Con. The problem is we don't know what's real and what's not, when it comes to our dear FSD's posts. So we are getting to the point that we are not taking any of them seriously.
We are not making fun of you, freestyle. At least, no more than we would tease a friend who got a little too, um... tipsy during a night on the town. It's all in good fun. And your original post has proven to be the catalyst that has bonded us together as a group... especially those of us that were here when it was posted. We really are a good bunch of people... at least most of us are... :-)

Thank you for your superlative posting - you have given us the most excellent piece of stream of consciousness writing since Joyce made hot, hot love with words back in the day in Dublin. We would NEVER mock and taunt you - we gently tease because we LOVE! Besides I was just in Steamboat Springs a week ago and I can from experience say that the altitude and beauty there can cause some late night ramblings. Not to mention, there really isn't a store of kick-ass, CFM shoes there - a great natural hot springs and excellent skiing - but no needednly shoes. Again, thank you for being you.

Well, Kind Sir Ohio - I am ever the optimist (and often too trusting, as I have been told in the past - but I'd rather be that way than the opposite) . . . I was hoping it might just be our ol' chum FSD - so we could give her props for her joy-giving post. Yeah, it was some great skiing the week before last in Steamboat!! As well as the yee-haah apres ski ! We also got to partake of the excellent annual Cowboy Downhill (luckily I had brought my red cowboy boots)! Although, the skiing here at home (up at Tahoe) might even be better, just in terms of the amount of snow - it was 70 degrees in Denver when I came home from Steamboat on the 20th!!! Not much of a base there, but after the HUGE snow storms we've had out here this winter - the snow (for once) is pretty bloody kickass!! :^D

Agree with Nano that gigantosaurus threads pose a problem, but none is a whole nother phenomenon. Talk about yer global village.....somehow, we've created a "museum" based on a single letter -- a message in a bottle, more or less. We've laughed at/with, admired, mimicked, parodied, tried to prompt responses, yeodelled enticingly into the void.

What I like is our shared appreciation of the tone of the original. We're humor gourmets and we've dined extravagantly (in our size 9 thin/regs) at dear freestyle's table. Wake up at night sometimes thinking: did she find 'em? And every time I see Steve Maddens I chuckle.

Dear frestyledesign, I read your post with the most empathy. I love shoes,too, especially when they fit properly. I gave my mom a pair of Steve Madden shoes for Mother's Day, but one of them did not work too good. Every time she took a step, it came off her foot. But she insisted that she loved them. I said," Mom, maybe you just need one with a strap; a pair of Mary Janes or something." But she wouldn't hear any of that. She went to her bedroom and came out with a pair of sweat socks and put them on and the shoes stayed on just like magic. I didn't say I thought it looked kind of funny because all that mattered, really, was that she felt happy. She's kind of different ever since she had a stroke a couple of years ago, but I still love her even if she isn't the same. ANYWAY I wanted to ask you: Have you ever heard of DRESS TO KILL DOT COM? They just announced their grand opening in a advertissment and they have 3,000SQ. FT. of SHOES!!!!!!!!! They're located @ 227 Dauphine St. 10 AM - 11 PM daily. Hope this helps.

Uh Oh, this may not be good news for FSD...but a big Way to Go to the firemen for not letting the fire spread...
NEW ORLEANS -- A four-story shoe store was ablaze Wednesday in the French Quarter, and smoke could be seen billowing from the building. Six fire engines were at the site. They used the surrounding floodwaters to spray on the fire. With the water system feeding the fire hydrants, which are not working properly, firefighters were pumping water off the street to keep the fire from spreading to the rest of the block. No one was believed to be inside the building. Crews had to force their way inside. They said that they don't think the fire was intentionally set.
