This runs in segment 1D in the last five minutes of the first hour of All Things Considered. (This is the first hour broadcast on the east coast at 4-5 pm. The 5-6 hour will not have the story.)
The rundown sez:
WWOZ ARCHIVES -- The Library of Congress has rescued New Orleans public radio station WWOZ's extensive live broadcast collection. The collection, almost lost in Hurricane Katrina, includes such great recordings as James Booker, and Kermit Ruffins. It's a rare historical testament to New Orleans roots music. Today, the Library of Congress presented WWOZ with their first digitized archive. NPR's Carrie Kahn reports.
It will appear later on the ATC website.

3000 hours of music and it may take over 10 years to catalog it all! WOW!
Wouldn't you love to be the person who has to listen to all that music and file it? "hmm, I better listen to that Wild Magnolias track again, just to make sure I catalog it correctly" :D
Since it's going to the LoC, I wonder if that means we'll be able to listen to all that music online at some point.

Wow! I didn't now that, but I am thrilled to know my tax money is going for SOMETHING useful, finally!
