Mac will be performing some of his earliest recordings (from back when he was a guitarist) at the first night of the Stomp as a special guest of the Wardell Quezerque revue.
Crap, just when I was thinking I could miss the Stomp this year, this news comes out...

I've got a 45 (autographed of course) of Storm Warning, by Mac Rebennack, from 1959... wonder if he'll do that.

We have recommended the good dr's set list- he has agreed - its all Rebennack material- backed by Wardell. gonna be a hoot.

Wow... I'd love to see him do that. When he signed it for me, he laughed and said it was an antique and was surprised that it was still around... he even signed it "Mac R. aka Dr. John"
Sounds like it's going to be a blast.. made me think about it, but we have some of those tickets to the patry that night, and I can't give that up, even for Mac... FOMS!!!!

Stomping...it does NOT get anybetter than this folks....you may not know a lot of the lesser known acts...but they will WOW your wowie big time...i went to Stomp and i am hooked...one of things about jazzfest time that gives me FOMS bigtime....is not being able to STOMP!

Ah, Mz. Joey, if only there were some way for you to come this year! I felt let down when I read that you couldn't make it this year because I was looking forward to meeting you. The closest I ever came to meeting you was at the Los Lobos show @ Humphrey's when the Neville Bros. were on the bill with them. I have F.O.M.M.J. ( fear of missing Mz. Joey)!!!

I do know Darlin....mah FAVORITE part of fest is smiling and hanging with of us peeps...and shakin our bons bons...be it on Frenchman or at da Fest. But it's all good and we'll catch up one of these shows/cities!!
But missing Ponderosa Stomp...sigh....part of NOLA music history in the makin' I say!
Hogan, because there are three stages running at once the Stomp did not feel overly crowded at the HOB last year.

and, yes, she's coming to fest. 1st weekend through ... ummmm... I forget but I know she's there 1st weekend because we have a date for Tab Benoit at Rock n Bowl on first Friday... :D

LOL Don't think I'll be dining 1st weekend. Ann's only there that weekend and, knowing her, she'll be chomping at the bit to get as much in as possible.

ahhhhhh i can't wait to see her!!! I think that dinner last year spoiled me. I had such a good time... Nanc called me the other day to set something up but it was the night I have Tab tix for Preservation Hall :( and Wed is dinner w/Joe and Marisol and Sha at 6:00 ... Wed is a busy day... Rosetreefest, a bar hop w/Kats and then dinner... While we'll be out that end of town, we may have to go to RnB that night, too. Maybe Monday night after the raffle?

Wardell Quezergue is doing custom arrangements for these old Mac Rebennack songs. Mac has not performed many of these in 30+ years. Should be a hoot.
