Couple of questions, has anyone received their brass passes via fed ex yet? I didn't get a reply when I sent account info, so I'm wondering if the email didn't go through, or if it's just taking awhile to get them shipped out.

Also, brass pass doesn't include parking, right? We've never driven and parked at fest but are planning on doing so this year, are there any good pay lots or places near the fairgrounds, especially on the Liuzza's side?

Amy - nope - brass pass doesn't include parking. There are a lot of homemade lots near the fairgrounds and they are pretty okay. The average price is 20 dollars for the day.

As for the passes - they probably don't even have them at WWOZ yet - but I could be wrong. I used to get mine shipped - but then decided to pick them up where I am there...it is a LOT easier and one less thing to remember. You might consider calling them back and telling them you will pick them up when you get in town.....even if it is at the fairgrounds. One less thing to leave behind.

I always recommend supporting the girls at Cabrini H. S.
We had long discussion about this last year. I know that DumbTourist parks there every year and is very pleased. I think that he even got advanced parking, if I'm not mistaken. The dads do the parking and also have kegs and BBQ on hand for donations. :D
It's not on the Liuzza's side, but I don't know of any lots on that side except the Fairgrounds itself.

BTW, where has DT been???

Hey = that's our usual place to park !!! We LOVE that place - but it fills up fast -because they are cool - and they always have water, soda and a munchie (as if you were still hungry) when you get back to your car. We've used other homemade lots when Cabrini is filled. I didn't know they had advanced parking - that is something I am DEFINITELY interested in that......

I was very happy with Cabrini when I first found it in the 90's. It was $10, for a good cause, easy-in & out, didn't fill up, paved parking usually available, and refreshments were available.

But, like Fest itself, crowds and inflation have infringed on my secret find. Now, it's $20 or $25, fills up pretty early (even the supplemental park-on-the-dirt lot), and the traffic leaving can be bad. It's still a good cause, and the refreshments are still sold, but it's not the slam-dunk no-brainer it once was.

Remind me where that lot is? I just want to be as close as we can as we'll have a bit more stuff than usual this year with baby. And how early do you have to get there? Reserving in advance might be really great . . .

I was thinking of getting a Brass Pass this year, but I don't have a Fedex account. Can you pick them up at the Fairgrounds? If so, where?

Not at the FG, luvsdancin, but at the OZ offices. One year we picked ours up on first fest day, at the oz offices.
And Ames, my recommendation is to park in a $20 lot that is much closer than the Cabrini lot. I'll look at a map and give you some specific directions via email.

I love the Cabrini Dads!! The last time I parked there one of them was working as a greeter dressed as Elvis. But it ain't as cheap as it once was. ;)

Cool. Then I can wait until I get to Fest and pick it up. And this is perfect because the Sauvage gate is usually where we go in anyway since we park on that side. Thanks, mighty...

You're right. :D Since I was only concerned about getting it at the beginning, I didn't even look at the second weekend dates. Obviously, someone made a boo-boo. :o

Amy, i dont think i have your email. Barry has mine if you contact him, if you ask sweet he'll give you my cell.
we can hook you up with a reserved spot right outside the liuzza side gate. i think we pay $25 now - the landlady lost alot to Katrina, and we've been parking with her for more than 10 years - she's like family.
there is a bigger lot a little closer to Liuzza's but farther from the gate. Joe & Marisol park there. not sure of the rate. doubt that its more. could be less.
and as we drive into the 'locals only' area there, folks are always trying to wave us in to spots. but we do arrive before noon.

YYR, think it is supposed to be 1-4 rather than 4-6, maybe they used last years 2nd weekend dates because there also is only three days listed. I guess they feel that people will be there at least one of the days of first weekend.

Barb, that sounds perfect! We'll be there before noon for sure, though I don't know that we'll be running for front row at Acura when the gates open like we normally do :) I'm pretty sure I had your email on my old work email account, but not now. What time was that? I got to the FG fairly early on day 1 last year, but after the gates opened (12:30ish?), and the line to get the Brass Pass was very short. So short in fact that I wondered why anyone would risk shipping or bother going to the OZ offices.

Right when the gates opened. Both the line to get in and at the Will Call were extremely long. One of the great things about the BP is the short line at the "turnstile"!

i love the term "fairly early". it means something different to everyone.
i would consider 12:30 getting to fest late.

fyi - gates open 'tween 10:45 & 11 am (whenever the signal is given that the grounds are ready).
