Nice feature and interview this morning. Talked about them, Cajuns and a resurgence in Lousiana Zydeco in general.

and to make a plug, since you would NEVER hear about the Pine Leaf Boys on any other national venue, please make a donation if you appreciate their programing!

That is a cool article and a good cause. I first heard buzz on the Pine Leaf Boys right before the 2006 fest...from Offbeat, I believe. When we caught their set at Fais Do Do, I remember thinking that hearing a group like this for the first time was one of the real joys of Jazz Fest...one of the main reasons we continue to go in fact. The crowd was really into them that day..so much so that I think they ran out of tunes that they had practiced so that they had to use a reprise for an encore.

We've caught to them several times since then. Like the Red Stick Ramblers, they continue to keep tradition sounding fresh and exciting.

I love this band and their gig at Fais Do Do last year sent my feet spinning out of control. Damn things just took on a life of their own. I love the way they can pay homage to the old traditions - singing a wonderful jure! - and then swap around instruments to keep us all dancing. Some of the side projects are just wonderful too - Cedric Watson and Corey Ledet's "Goin' Down to Louisiana" is a gem. Hehehehe...it's so organic you can smell the compost!

Saw the PLB at NuNu's the other night - fabulous - and was on their Mardi Gras run. A great band.
