View Full Version : I Hate All of You

Admittedly, this isn't the nicest thread. But I've posted it for people like me who for whatever reason are unable to attend Jazzfest this year.

We read this discussion board simply to torture ourselves. We stream WWOZ like masochists. We try to take solace in the fact that there's always 2009. And maybe we can even hope to make it to NOLA sometime before then.

We wake up from Jazzfest dreams in agony. A Fear of Missing Everything. And we try to be grown-ups about it. We try to be happy for all of the fun that you'll have. We try to be happy for the money you'll dump into the city over those two weekends and the time in between. We try to be nice.

But once in a while, we can't be cordial. We can't hold back. We just want to say, "I HATE ALL OF YOU! I HATE ALL OF YOU!"

So there it is, I said it. And it felt good.

And now I'll go back to lurking in quiet, harmonious peace. I don't really hate all of you. I didn't want to eat crawfish bread while dancing at the Fais Do Do anyway. I'd probably just get a sunburn.

So have yer fun. Have a real great friggin' time.

Sour grapes.

I don't know if I could even lurk here if I wasn't going to fest. It truly must be torture! Try for Satchmo fest we seem to have a fair amount of Threadheads attending last year and the hotels seems alot cheaper.

See you in 2009 Alice

Hey Crazy! I used to live in Darcut, MA! Sorry you can't come to fest. :(

There are times that lurking is painful for sure but so much of the time spent on the jazzfest bored is exhanging music finds, shows and love. If you need to lurk do so but there are so many areas to post or read to bring you joy.

One day I maybe in the position of being in your frame of mind...oh thats right I have been...don't we all miss so much if we don't live there? But there is way more to this bored than just JazzFest.

Our bored would be missing something if you were not here. Hugs Baby and I am so sorry for your musical soul you cannot attend this year.

2009 is the big Four-Oh. That's great reason to come all by itself.

But I know what you mean. Last year, we went to French Quarter Fest instead of Jazz Fest. So I thought that would take care of the fix for one year. It just made it worse. FQF is a wonderful festival. But it ain't Jazz Fest. The end result..this year...we have to go to both.

Face it, Crazy A. It is miserable at the Jazzfest. Crowded, hot, dry, dusty and muddy, nothing but fried food. People standing in front of your chair, or people in chairs where you want to stand. Beer is $25. You have to pee in an oil drum. Every other idiot is in a faded Hawaiian shirt. Whatever of interest somebody says happened on any stage, you just missed it.

We do this so you don't have to. In fact, we should send you a bill!

Who needs Jazzfest when there is Karaoke, American Idol, Vegas showtunes, McDonalds, Kenny G and Dominos Pizza?

I was thinking the same thing Amy.

Sorry Alice. I was in the same boat as you last year. It is painful, but I did some living vicariously and did enjoy the knowledge that so many good people were having such a good time. Oh, I didn't miss the r**n though!

When I missed '02 I was crazy. Stark Raving Mad. Ape-Shit-Nutz.
And reading this bored made it even worse. Worst will be the reports during and right after. But I didn't hate, it's a wasted emotion ;)

I have to say I am laughing hysterically over this post, mainly because it sounds like exactly what I would be thinking/writing in the same situation. Sorry you can't make it, Alice, but there is something to look forward to....I'm sure there will be many threadheads ready to buy you a cold, cold beer the next time you make it to JF!
