hi, is there a FAQ any where for festy virgins? If not would it be tooooo boring for you festy experts to come up with a guide to the festy for newcomers? I know only what i have read and there seems to be a french quarter fest early april, or the jazz fest late april and may. It seems that there is music only on each weekend for the jazz fest, does anything happen in the week in between? we will be staying probably for 3 weeks.
Apologies if this has already been said elsewhere if so just point me to it thanks.x

So much happens on the days (daze) between! CBH was talking about a post of info to be stickied to the top of the board -- Festydave, CBH, I think that's a great idea! In the meantime, you can get started at Swag's site, www.swagland.com (http://www.swagland.com) (click on the Jazz Fest option).

Oh my gosh, Trad, there is so much to do the daze between the weekends of Jazz Fest! In (music) store performances, the clubs are hopping and maybe they will bring Mo Fest back, not to mention the Threadhead party on Tuesday. An excellent place to learn about Jazz Fest is www.swagland.com.

Also the Stomp is back, there was our patry and Ingrid's patry, FOMS every night . . . As the event gets closer, there will be posts about all the options, as well as grids so you can plan your nights :)

are a blast. I was new to trad jazz when I first started going in '02 and now it has become one of several new things I look forward to every year. Dr. Micheal White would be another good one to check out.
Couple of In Stores:

2003 - Dr. Micheal White at the Virgin Record store in The Quarter.

2005 - Dr. Micheal White and ? at the Tower (RIP) Record store in The Quarter. (he introduced the guitar player, but I can't remember his name. Anybody know?)

you will NEVER have trouble finding live music in New Orleans especially during fest. It can be as crazy as you want or as easy as you want. We go 12 days and get music sometimes day and night on dayz in between....you can't go wrong. 3 weeks? Wahooooo for you!!!!!
Stick around Trad, when Fest time gets near, there will be more info about music to see than you would ever believe (during & outside of the fest itself). In the meantime study up over at Swagland about all things Fest!
