I am from DeKalb, IL., and this will be my 3rd JF. The group I go with has been going for on the 1st weekend for 10+ years. After I saw the line up, I realized I needed to be there both weekends.

I would like to make the trip more significant by helping is some way with a local Katrina relief effort between the fest weekends. If there any of you JFers involved with, or know of, any organizations or groups needing a willing hand, I would sure appreciate hearing from you.

There's a website devoted to just this, by our very own ChiTown Huck.

http://www.festaid.com/

Not updated yet for 2008, but stay tuned.

I am going down a day early to volunteer with the NOLA chapter of Habitat. Check out their site. http://www.habitat-nola.org/

Welcome, Bill! Spent 4 years "learning" in DeKalb, way back when.;)

Theres' another little way you can help, too. A bunch of us here sell beers at the fest for the Zulu Diamondcutters, a local krewe, aka Ms Lena's. More on that, as well as other volunteer opportunities, here: http://threadheads.org/

Hey Bill, I'm just down Rt. 38 in Geneva. I drive thru Dekalb often on my way to Sterling. Used to go to Otto's from time to time. Thanks for volunteering and have fun at Fest !!

Hey Bill,

Head over to the site and check it out. We are in the process of getting things updated and rolling. You can email me any questions through the site. Would love to have you.

Regards,

Huck

Thank for the link. I have registered and will be watching the site. One of my buddies, Gerry, volunteered at a beer tent two years ago and had a blast. I will try to do the same this year.

I hope you had some fun while "learning" in DeKalb. ;)

Bill, if you want to volunteer at a beer tent at fest, look for the Ms Lena's Brigade thread on this board.

Oh yes, and much of what I learned there has been quite useful to me at jazzfest!

Amy,

I'd like to sling some beer on this trip, too. But I the only thread for Ms Lena's Brigade seems to be from last year's fest. Maybe there will be a new one later on. let me know if one shows up.

As soon as I can get with Ms Lena (after Mardi Gras) and get some details worked out, I'll put up a new thread with the info for '08.

We'd be glad to add you to the list then. :)

BTW, I am curious about the Brass Pass at WWOZ. I heard that it is an everydat pass to JF. Is this true? Are there any other perks? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Hooked on JF,

Bill

It allows in and out privileges everyday at Fest. There's also a dedicated entrance line and a hospitality tent with light food, water and internet access. AND it helps support the great WWOZ. :)

Can you split the Brass Pass with someone else? I am, unfortunately, only going for the first weekend. Just wondering

Not the Brass Pass. I think the more expensive Overpass can be split though.
