Shooting an email at ya. I still have some flags, but they are buried behind all the Mardi Gras throws. I'll be tossing all of those in the Baton Rouge Spanish Town Mardi Gras Parade on Saturday, so I'll count up what I have left of the T'head flags after I recuperate.
If anyone will be around for the parade, the Parrot Head float will look like a pirate ship and I'll be on driver's side, rear spot! (Bigg Will always manages to snag some goodies from me every year.)
Bon Fete!

FestNut, I'm putting together a fest flagpole this year and would love to buy one of the TH flags if you still have one available. Email is macks1 AT comCast dot net if it's a possibility.
The email kicked back, so maybe I need more rum to type more accurately.
I have some, just can't count how many of them till after Mardi Gras....

Early afternoon, I think we had about 40 people last year, we did raffle drawing and wine tasting around the pool at the Chateau Lemoyne. In the Quarter or Frenchman area are great because easy for people to get to, but there are also homes with amenities available to us, so we're not sure which direction to go yet. We do want to have prizes on hand so we can hand out to winners who are there on Monday and have a little less work at the patry.
What did people think of the wine tasting last year? We brought a dozen bottles, but with that many people we didn't get much out to everyone -- was it even worth it?

Yup, a whole slew of Threadheads at the HI FQ. The pool there is indoors, fine for swimming but probably not a great hanging-out space. The lobby is small, there's no patio, no outdoor space at all except the driveway.

RT, we want to pass out prizes at the patry so Wednesday is a bit late for the drawing I'm afraid :( The beauty of Chez Rooney is many of the prizes are already there (and I think Jenn said something about snacks -- if I hear crawfish cheesecake, I'm sold!) ;) Will need cab or car to get there, but that doesn't seem to matter for festgiving . . . Maybe carpools can be arranged?

Yes, I think having some help to pour vino (and contributions from anyone who wants to share their fave wine) would be great :) We'll definitely still bring wine; we have faves we like to share too!
Wow, I forgot about the crawfish cheesecake - done! :)

Miss you too, honey. I always have a great time at fest with you, and I just love the memories that picture brings.
I'm fInally healing up. I'm back to work full time and busy as hell, which sucks, but other than that, I'm doing great.
Joe's not festing again this year (dammit). Unfortunately, fest falls right in the height of the festival season in Atlanta, and he already has 5 gigs over those 10 days, so no way.
I may be bringing Janell and Frank one weekend, and then my 22 year old nephew Patrick, the other weekend. Pat was born in NOLA, but they moved when he was about 3, so he doesn't remember it. I figured it's about damn time he learned about his roots.

Who likes the Ponderosa Stomp?
I emailed Dr Ike of the Mystic Knights of Mau Mau and the Ponderosa Stomp last week. He took the time to find my home # and I came home to a phone message from him. I called and he agreed on the phone to provide a pair of tix for each night of the stomp and a poster which amazed me. So two pairs of lucky TH's will be Stomping the night away.
This is a very generous donation as the Knights are a non profit. They do wonderful work preserving the heritage of some important musical history. Show em some love and support them however you can. Here's their site...
http://www.ponderosastomp.com/about_the_knights.php
Also last week, I also emailed a photographer based in New Orleans named Owen Murphy, who's work I found on Michael Murphy Productions website (producers of the Make It Funky film). I mentioned that I loved the prints entitled 'Clarinet and Drum', and 'Footprints' on this page. http://www.mmptv.com/mmphotostore3.html They struck me as powerful yet hopeful for some reason. Any way, he emailed this back...
John,
The NOMC is one of my favorite organizations and I have made photography and cash donations over the years to help support them. I would like to help you in your cause so, yes, count me in and give me an idea of a time line when you need the work.
Stay in touch.
Regards,
Owen
He also forwarded the email to an artist friend of his who used to be in New Orleans and is now based in New York who he thought may also wish to donate. I don't want to post his name since I have no commitment yet, but I'm hoping for something good as his work is amazing as well. Don't know what Owen's contribution will end up being, hopefully one of the ones I mentioned but whatever it is it's again amazingly generous. I'll let everyone know when I find out!

Scoopy - you are the BEST !!!!
you seem to be getting some might fine donations......
This is going to be an amazing raffle. Each item is unique with tons of NOLA character - I was just telling CBH that it's gonna be like the best shopping mall in the world. :)
For the record, CBH and I will be donating a signed copy of "Cooking With the Uglesich's" along with an apron. Yes, I'm going that day. :p

Fantastic job, Scoop!!! I love the clarinet & drum poster & will be bidding on that one for sure!!
Those are just two I suggested. I just emailed Owen following up and stating that I know he has many images I've never seen and I left it to him to decide. so be patient. :) He's the artist and as soon as I know everyone else will. Whatever it is will be wonderful though, I think that's safe to say.

You are awesome Scoop!
I might take you up on your offer of using your email.... I can't get anyone to respond. I'd much rather get a polite good luck but no thanks message than just being ignored. :(
My heart also swells 'cos you haven't been to Fest for a couple of years, yet you invest so much of yourself into the activities. You're a bloody doll!

As I mentioned on the Uglesich's thread, they will be donating a package as yet to be determined but visit their site http://www.uglesichs.com/ and buy some cookbooks.
And....(I love this one) I emailed Robin Burgess, Terence Blanchard's wife and manager this morning and got a reply. Here it is....
Good Morning John--
Thank you for your kind email. We would be more than happy to lend
our support to your organization. I can offer 2 pairs of free
tickets and dinner @ Snug Harbor on Saturday, May 3. We will have to
see which set would be the best to pull this off. I will also donate some CDs and t-shirts. Let me just go through our inventory here in the office and see what I can cull together.
Thank you again and all the best.
Robin Burgess.
Here's Terence Blanchard's website...http://www.terenceblanchard.com/
He is an amazing talent, and both he and his wife care deeply about New Orleans so show him some love, buy his music and enjoy!

I'm thinkin it's ... if you like what somebody else won, better than what you won, you can make trades...
