Grace House was founded in 1985, by a small group of volunteers in response to the lack of facilities for chemically dependant women. Grace House holds the belief that a gender-specific, 12-Step based, long-term residential program is the best treatment for chemically dependant women over the age of 18. The mission of Grace House is to assist chemically dependant women in leading sober and productive lives by providing long-term residential treatment, regardless of ability to pay. Recently having merged with Bridge House, Grace House remains the only treatment facility in New Orleans exclusively for women.

ooh, wish I could be there for that! I'd definitley be one of "Irma's groupies!" It's been so great to see her three times in the past year, including twice in Chicago! And she said, I think, it had been something like 15 years since she was here. A lovely little positive consequence of Katrina.
