I wondered that myself... I figured I'd go to Boscov's if it were, but I'm supposed to find out today if my friend Nick was going to be able to pick up our tickets.

Ya know... is it me or what? If I knew that 7 bucks was going to OZ, I wouldn't mind in the least, but for ticketbastard to make 7 bucks per ticket, plus the other charge, just really pisses me off big time.
I seriously wish they'd consider doing a Half-Brass pass for folks doing one weekend. If the money was going to OZ, I'd be tickled and they could tell me that it was $150 for the first weekend, and I'd shell it out without a complaint.

I have no idea, but I love the name... Half-Brass... halfa$$ lol
I would think it was a win/win as well... and although I may not have brought it up to them, I would not be surprised if in the past, it has been thought of and just not ever "approved" ... what can I say?

If you pay at the gate, do the festival/foundation/ticket sellers benefit from the increased price? At first glance, buying right now seems best, but I'm really broke right now and bristle at how much Ticketbastard would get off my order. Plus, since I get in Wednesday on second weekend, if history holds, I could the tix at the middle price that day, no?

my suggestion would be to purchase the pass that is transferable and the create a post here to split the cost

As long as you arrive in time to get to the arena box office before it closes. 4pm? 5pm?

I know it may be to late this year for something like this to come about, but they really do need to think about it for next year ... a 1/2 brass pass for the first weekend... and a 2/2 brass pass for the second weekend. Considering that Thursday is back, folks buying the 2/2 brass pass wouldn't mind paying more... at least I wouldn't if I were buying it.
A brass pass is $375.00 ... so for the first weekend, they could actually charge $160 or $165 a 1/2 brass pass, and $220 or $225 for a 2/2 brass pass and make out fine and dandy. Same design, just shorter with a big 1/2 for the first weekend or a big 2/2 for the second weekend.

Yeah, Danny suggested that, but I can't really put out the price of two overpasses at this point (the water heater went, basement flooded... price of oil.. nope) and then hope that someone might want to do that. I really think there's enough folks that would be willing to buy the half brass pass if they could, especially because OZ or the foundation would benefit and not ticketbastard.

any place that recommended that you contact them used the same email... help@wwoz.org
They could even sell them in pairs, I'd bet... most folks go to fest with someone!

sorry honey, I haven't figured that out myself yet, either.

I would guess that an outlet would cost more. Of course, I'd guess that having them mailed would cost more than printing yourself, so my logic and Ticketmaster's logic are proven not to sync. Still, even if it is somehow cheaper, I can't imagine that it's enough cheaper to make it worth the hassle.

I dunno about the availability at outlets if you live out of the area. I tried this last year, and the walk-up outlets in my city did not have them available - had to purchase online.

Thanks! but Ive decided to go the easy way out and give Ticket-Bastard 45 smackers for my convenience... or is it theirs???
Last year I bought them at the Superdome the Thursday before 1st weekend. Trust me I would rather give Jazzfest the extra money but they still haven't listed what the walkup prices will be?

I know, I know - I have the same mindset and struggle with the choice. I think we're holding out and will do the at-the-gate thing.

It seems to me I can order now and get the tickets $5 less with a lot of convenience, handling, laughing at you charges or wait and get them at the NO Arena for $5 more and a $2 per ticket charge. I think option B is much better.
Ticketmaster goes give a cut of those charges to JazzFest. I have no idea how much -- obviously not as much as if one buys them at the gate.

Does JF get a cut? I didn't realize that.... well, I bought 6 tickets for 2nd weekend. We will buy Thursdays at the gate. That will be a pleasant wait. After that, I will just want to get in.
