Now don't get me wrong I would love it if the Eagles were at JF this year.
However I have just bought tickets to see them at the O2 stadium, London on Sunday March 23rd for Myself, Alison and my daughter Alex.
My point is this the whole transaction has cost more than tickets for all 4 days of the second weekend for both Alison and I at the Jazz Fest. Please no one ever moan about ticket prices to the Fairgrounds again. It's the best value ticket in the world!!!!!! IMO

I would love to see the Eagles but if memory serves me correctly I think they were the first band I ever remember charging way outrageous prices for a show. I know ticket prices can't ever stay low forever but dang... Glen and Don must have a buttload of money by now.

I still haven't ever seen them.

I saw them once in 1977, and again in 2004. I believe it cost $8 the first time and $108 the second.

I have never complained -- I still think it's the most (and best) music your money can buy, bar none. You know, I don't think I would buy an Eagles ticket if they were in town, just seems like so much money. I have such a great memory of the time I did see them here in Calgary in the late 70's, at a football stadium and a red and orange big sky sunset behind them as they opened with Hotel California. That was a great moment....

Maybe I'm just getting old, but I just won't do a stadium show anymore. I don't care who it is. Stadiums are for sports, not concerts.

I saw Marc Anthony at a benefit show in NYC a few months back. He opened with Hotel California, too. I thought that was kind of weird, but good.

I'm with ya! We have tix for Joe Cocker, Jimmy Barnes and Mia Dyson (she's great... y'all should have a listen) at a winery in Brisbane in Feb. Ticket price = to Brass Pass for the whole shebang! Flights are a bit cheaper though. ;)

They pale in comparison to prices now for "divas" such as Streisand, Celine Dion etc. Saw them back in the 70s at the Yale Bowl with Little River Band and Heart for 12 bucks (big price ticket for those days) and have seen them two times since and my single ticket cost more than the whole group of friends that went that day. They do put on a great show and I would love to see them first weekend (since all the snow has been falling for 2nd weekend)

I agree there are way more overpriced artists these days. And I guess somebody had to be the first act up the ante. i just wish it would have been a bit more gradual price hike instead of something so dramatic. In the end we'd still be stuck with the same prices i guess.

As somebody said before, even with the ever escalating jazzfest ticket prices (inclucing beer), it's still is a great deal for all you get.

YYR about a gradual increase...seems like it went from single and low double digits to near triple digits really (and beyond) really fast and the Eagles were that catylst for rock shows.

Joe would be great at Fest!

That is a mind blower. Saw him a few times and loved it. He is just opening a two month tour predominately in Austrailia and ending in S. Africa in March. Playing some now.

Joe would be great at Fest!

Saw Joe Cocker at Fest in 94. I was not expecting much, but he was just incredible. One on my top 3 performences at Fest along with Subdudes in 92 and Meters 05.

Did I miss somthing? Are The Eagles rumored to be playing Jazzfest?

Going back to the stadium thang Joe Cocker is also playing in Cairns (without Jimmy and Mia), right around the corner from where I work. But it's at our convention center which I dislike for anything other than basketball. So it was our choice to pay a bundle more for tix in order to spend a relaxing afternoon/evening in the outdoors enjoying some fine wine.

I don't have anything in particular against stadium shows... depends on the stadium and the performer. John Butler Trio comes to Cairns every year and usually plays in a rainforesty amphitheatre setting. Couple of years ago he played at the convention centre.... I didn't go and I heard it was good, but really lacking in atmsophere. He's been back playing in the rainforest ever since. Oh, and JBT tix are always affordable.

I would take really good RESERVED seats in a basketball venue as opposed to a general admission football stadium anyday. Really would like to see Cocker again. That would be so awesome. Perhaps after down under and over to Africa he will tour here.

Yes! Eagles are rumored to be playing the fest, along with reunions by Phish, Byrds and Beetles. not confirmed, but the Spiders doing their hit of Witchcraft may also make an appearance. we can only hope for a guest appearance by Eric Burton.

I love those guys. A Taste Of Honey, Your Bird can Sting and Let It Bee are classics. Seriously, The Eagles are touring in the Spring. The Byrds have also played recently. Phish will never be back after 96.
