THREADHEAD 12-STEP PROGRAM

http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-1/86486/steps.gif

We:

admit we are powerless over our need to check the Jazzfest board—that our online lives had become consumed by the threads
come to believe that only the power of Jazzfest can restore us to sanity.
make a decision to turn our time and our money over to Jazzfest.
make a searching inventory of our Jazzfest backpacks.
admit to ourselves, and to the threadheads, our secretive trips to check the board when we should be working
are entirely ready to boogie at Jazzfest.
humbly ask all threadheads to overlook our comfortable shoes, sunburned skin and funny dance moves.
make a list of all persons we have met on the board, and become willing to meet them at Lena’s booth
buy beers and give lagniappe to those people wherever possible
continue to check the cubes and grids in search of the perfect music
seek through music to gain joy and happiness
having had a musical awakening as the result of these steps, we try to carry this message to music lovers everywhere and promise to return to the threadhead board each year

It's a hopeless addiction. Or maybe better said, a hopeful addiction.

You know...when...
You are on the boreds at work more than you are working at all.

Funny story if I may digress-last year I was covering for one of my staff on the day the lineups were being rolled out and just about the time Quint was about to start the press conference, a shareholder called in. Well, in the worst call center etiquette, I took the ladies question and put her on hold and listened back in to the announcement. Well, got wrapped up in the announcement and forgot about the shareholder. I click back and she is still there, I apologize profusely and she told me not to worry as she was just listening to WWOZ for the fest lineups-seems she was from NOLA and displaced to Houston and was coming back for Fest (figured it was a good time to mention JF and THs-don't know if she ever joined the fray)

Maybe not a Threadhead but a true Jazzfester....my kid got her schedule for college... one course had 2 exams on April 28th and May 1st...this is her first fest and staying 1st weekend right through till after the Threadhead Patry...she was told no exceptions...her solution?

"Drop the course, I'm going to Jazzfest"
She went online and dropped it just now :)

I love the 12 Threadhead Steps...LOL!! I qualify and proudly claim my seat here. I DO check this forum every day....and strongly reaffirm the 3rd step...that Jazz Fest can restore me to sanity. Not that I'm too off the wall the rest of the year....but I am soooo much more mellow and have that glow at the fest....and really, whenever I'm in New Orleans. You know I'LL keep coming back!

Next to that "W" on her transcript have the school officers enter "NOLA Jazzfest exemption". Love her carpe diem way in the world.

Hmmm, as a newbie here I can see threadhead ways taking shape...enjoying the evolution.

omg, so true!! My office looks like that...2 Nola posters, the rebuild New Orleans flag, Fleur de Lis magnets and statues of jazz singers, about 6 sets of special beads I got from Mardi Gras last year, Pictures in New orleans frames, really cool magnets from Mirliton Fest in Nov. of some diff. clubs/bars, Nola music playing on the puter all day long and first thing i do when I get there is to open my home email, this bored, and Nola.com. My office is the size of a closet lol.

I got issues.

LOL....love that Threadhead work area! I have started to put some New Orleans mementos on my wall and work station. If it were totally up to me, it would be decked out with all kinds of pix, posters and Jazz Fest stuff....but I guess I have to be somewhat professional. I just work there after all. I have a 2007 New Orleans calendar; a table mat with a montage of N.O. landmarks and images; and an 8x10 photo of a picture I took of the New Orleans city limit sign on the St.Bernard Parish border. It says "NEW ORLEANS CORP. LIMIT" and under that ENTER ORLEANS PARISH. I love it.....gives me inspiration when my mind wanders off and is thinking of the city....which is quite often, and as JF draws nearer, the obsession grows stronger.

If you give in to the universe....she will keep us threadheads together.
