Hotwire showing a 3-star at the Airport available 2nd weekend for $59. Seems like it is probably the Radisson.
I'm still holding out for something downtown but if your flying in, the reviews seem pretty good for this place.
4 Star DT/FQ, 5/1-5/4, $85, REJECTED
In related news, I check hotwire every single day for my dates and I noticed today that 3 new hotels popped up today. A 3* DT for $179, 3* FQ for $205 and a 4* FQ for $247. I have no idea about the 3* hotels but I would guess that the 4* is the Westin.
Believe me, this is a big change from what has been on there for the last 6 weeks or so.
The reason this is important is because it appears that some places are opening up to the opaque services. For those of you completely SOL and desperate for something, I would start bidding 3* on priceline in FQ and DT. But beware, you may end up with a less than desirable hotel.

My guess is that the 3 star FQ is the FQ Inn and the 3 star DT is the Country Inn.
I seem to recall that last year I did not start to see the really good deals pop up until around this time - when I scored the Sheraton for around $110. I could be wrong but I would certainly not be surprised to see the 2nd weekend deals multiply from here.

I think thats the Country Inn and Suites ...
Intercontinental went from 149/night average for 4/26 - 5/6, which is where it has been for the last month, and just dropped today to 116/night ... its still 5/3 thats pricey, outside of that, its about 60-70/night average, and can probably be pricelined for less

last year was $25 a day, and the attached garage certainly takes a few minutes from the hotel room to the car...
i'm doing it again this year, works fine....there are a couple of hidden public spots, on the street in the immediate neighborhood..so last year i got one, cause i parked very late, and skirted a fee for that night...
it is what it is, price and convenience is the issue with any of the big hotels downtown area....on a related note, i like the parking situation at the hilton better than the sheraton

We did this hotel last fest. You can self park (I like best!). Easy drive to FG. However, their website shows $32/night this year....only 5 block walk to FQ. You can catch the street car (riverfront) right outside the hotel to Jackson Sq. if you want.

Another option is park free at Harrah's. If you gamble at least 30 minutes you can get your parking ticket validated and park free. You have to play 30 minutes each time you leave the garage. You also need a Harrah's player's card.

You might want to try spliting up your Priceline request. I got 4 nights at 3 different Hotels: Renaissance Arts, Renaissance Pere, and the Hilton for $277. It's along way from Pre-K days when we got the Hyatt for $40. Priceline still has rooms for 5/2-5/5 at the Hilton and the Wyndham at book rate.
I'm still trying unsuccessfully too. My backup plan is to head straight to Harrah's from the airport with the $300 I was planning on spending for a great priceline hotel deal and win enough cash to shell out top dollar for some prime 4 star real estate all the way through second weekend. I'm not too worried...

A van, down by the river?
You could just stay up all night, sleep at the fairgrounds. Maybe jump in the bayou for a bath.
What are your dates?
Have you checked Craigslist? There are a number of "cancellations" on there. Renting from an owner, you avoid taxes, surcharges, check in/out deadlines, etc. You can probably haggle a good deal at this point. Something is better than nothing for them.

I was just kidding. I actually have a real backup, in fact I've discussed it on this thread. I am bummed though because I have been to jazzfest many times and I had a nice steady run of priceline rooms that I came to rely on. I usually get started in December and I've never had to worry before for either weekend. I was worried about problems post Katrina but those worries never came to fruition... until now. I'll have to rethink my game plan for next year.

No luck with a last-minute Priceline deal, but if you're still looking, there are some nice deals w/some of the reg. hotel websites. We switched our original reservation ($59 Th, $189 F & S) to Hotel Le Cirque for about $100/night for a king deluxe room. Haven't stayed there before, but sounds pretty cool.

Yes, getting a nice room for the second weekend was a real headache this year. Maybe I'll plan on going First weekend next time, I actually like the 1st weekend line-up w/Plant/Krauss & Costello/Toussaint better than the 2nd weekend, except for Stevie Wonder

I have been lucky with PL in the past, too. But not this year. Was it the OB/GYN docs and the dreaded Parrotheads that screwed us up? 4* Hilton Riverside Apr 25 $55 Jazzfest Friday Should have started lower, bottom could be at 48-50 but 55 was just for warmup, I thought that the first Jazzfest weekend would go higher.
Another post:
Re: Bidding Help Needed 4/28-5/4 I got 55 for 4/25 and 62 for 5/4 and I see many success stories at 55 to 63 around this time so the supply seems good. There may be certain days within your range that are the problem. I went up to $130 with no luck for 5/3 so that could be the problem. You could make a few test bids for a two or three day stay and if they work then hope to be able to extend. The risk is that you might have to split the stay between more than one hotel and not be able to get the whole stay on Priceline. Since there are plenty of free bid opportunities if you are going for 4*, you can start low, 50 and up. I have almost always been able to get a rate around $60 in New Orleans within a day or two of arrival, when the hotels see that they haven't sold out. 5/3 was a rare exception.

Okay... I finally gave up getting a rooom at the Riverside Sat. and Sun and booked a hotel for my last two nights sans Priceline.
Not too bad though- Riverside for 3 nights, $190 total (priceline) and then Le Cirque Hotel for 2 nights, $264 total (on my own). Considering I almost gave in and paid the (cough) $269/ night to stay at the Riverside so we didn't have to move, I'd say it's a deal.
Good luck to those still trying!

Not bad, but this really is the first year Priceline didn't come through in a BIG way. I hope the Hyatt is repopened by next year. That should set things right again.
