Yeah-it's like anticipating Christmas morning all over again!!!!
I am so psyched my dad who's a musician will be attending his 1st Jazzfest. I told him he best do his winter hibernation cause he's not getting much sleep during fest days and nights.

FEst tip #55: IF you don't go out to eat after a day at the fairgrounds and go back to your hotel instead, you can shower, nap and eat fest food that you got as carryout with your handy dandy ziplocs and be ready to dance the night away by 10 or 11.

This is going to be a new and exciting fest for me. We have been attending fest for 18 years, i think 14 out of 18. This will be my first time going first weekend and my first fest with my 3 kids. They are more adults now than kids.
It's going to be great showing them what I have learned over the past 18 years and turning them on to the fest.
99 days and counting. Wahoooooooo.

Festal virgins!! Next year our oldest who holds the fort down and carpools all will be at college and I bet you will find me at fest with kids! But they dig good music and watching old folks get down!
Bet you will have a ball with the youngin's

That was one of the best suggestions I heard last year. Just don't forget to get a wake up call if you fall asleep. :o Missed a good early show

Whenever I see a post like this, I feel compelled to remind folks to be careful about food borne illness. Sorry, it's the Dining Manager and Fairgrounds food poisoning victim in me. Food that spends any significant amount of time at temperatures between 45 and 140 degrees will provide the perfect medium for bacteria growth and food prepared and served in a catered or vendor setting is particularly suspectible to contamination. After 4 hours, the growth accelerates exponentially, less than 4 hours is likely to be safe, but in the NOLA climate better safe than sorry.
To be as safe as possible, don't buy your to-go foods until you are ready to leave for home. If you aren't going to eat right away, refrigerate and be sure that the container is open so the food can cool quickly. Best bet of all is to re-heat food to 165 degrees for several minutes. Since most of us don't carry a food thermometer, food should be too hot to eat immediately when re-heated.
All that said, I can almost taste that PQA gumbo from Prajeans.
Bon Appetite!

And whatever you do, DO NOT take a hot, steamy shower at your hotel and settle in with room service. It is lethal, LETHAL, I tell you, to plans you may have for a night out.
One minute you're sitting there enjoying shrimp cocktail and a glass of wine in your bathrobe, and the next thing you know, you're eyeballing the cushy bed. It killed my Plans for Cinco de Mayo last year!:)

We're bringing a few virgins this year. They're going to love it. And we know they will find their 'own' fest. No babysitting needed. I can't wait!
