Roomful still enjoys national prominence, albeit in the ever shrinking blues community, and what a record; 30+ years of steady touring and a host of great players who made their debut with that band! The new record is solid and features a cover of Gary U.S. Bonds "New Orleans."
Looks like he died a musician's death, on tour, layed down in bed, after a gig! Not a bad way to go.

Geez, they played here Friday night. Yesterday I skimmed over the local blues society update and missed the news. Just went back to the inbox and read this review:
And now, Special Report from Conrad and Lita S. - "Friday night, we managed to venture down to the Gulfport Casino to catch Roomful Of Blues. What a choice- them, or Tab Benoit at Skipper's, but Tab comes to town more often than Roomful does. Besides, we are official "Roomheads!"
The Gulfport Casino is amazing- huge dance floor, packed house, and everybody came to DANCE! Despite the unfortunate death of longtime trumpet player Bob "Bubba" Enos that morning, they still had to play, and did they ever "bring it!" They played a lot of new material, along with some old favorites. The new rhythm section really cooked, especially the stand-up bass, and new vocalist Dave Howard is an excellent fit. You might say the show was a New Orleans Wake for Bob. Red Beans and Ricely Yours, Conrad & Lita."

I was looking forward to the upcoming gig here. I never thought I'd say it, but, I'll even miss those ever present funky cigar butts.:(

Sad, we've seen him with Roomful of Blues many times over the last three decades years. In fact, on our first joint trip to NOLA over twenty years ago, my girlfriend (now my wife) and I jumped in a cab and asked the driver for recommendations as to any good music in town. When the cab driver first responded with a lament on how we had just missed this hot group the previous week, one named "Roomful of Blues", we knew that the man's judgement was to be trusted.

The only thing missing is his smile.:)
