Excellent news! I wondered if the 2nd Thurs would spell an end for Chazzfest, but I'm glad to see it still there!

Make sure you spell it CHAZFEST with one Z! There is now a fest in Charleston, SC spelled with 2! I stumbled on this by googling the wrong spelling.

Is there such a word as "googling"?

Hmmm....does that mean this will compete with Ingrid's party?

since i came here for chazfest last year and well...never went home again...i'm really happy about this.

does the event need volunteers? i live right in the bywater and i'd really love to help out...this little festival has a very big spot in my heart.

Well....I came for Chazfest, met an abundance of wonderful people, fell completely in love with bywater, realized i don't want to live anywhere else, ever again, got a job and an apartment, then flew home and put the my house up for sale, packed what possessions i could fit, my daughter, my sister and my two dogs into the car, and drove back here :)
that of course is the abridged version. the extended version is much more interesting, highly comical but somewhat off topic ;)

Don't worry about being off-topic. Most threads on this bored veer in odd directions. Let us have the extended version when you have the time.

New Orleans has a way of doing that to people. I don't know how long you've been here, but welcome to the asylum. :)

just do it! i told myself right up to the moment i started to drive south "you can't really be doing this!" but i'm so happy i really was doing it.

it's not anything like ideal...i dont make enough money to live without constant worrying about getting the bills paid, the personal and financial hassles involved in just leaving were, are, and will continue for a while still to be immense, i left all of my things behind, and my family and friends are 1600 miles away...but i dont regret a single moment. i love it here. i'm home...finally.

and i seriously want to help out with chazfest lol.

Good for you! I think all of us would love to do that same thing, and the thought has crossed our minds from time to time...

I know with our parents growing older, we sort of feel "stuck" right now even though retirement is a nice word, we don't really see it happening, but if it were possible, I think we'd consider heading down that direction.

so....about volunteering to do something.....yes/no/maybe?

actually, last year when we finally left after having been there for something like ten hours, peter, the guy who was sitting at the wrist band table said to us "you've been here all day and all night! you're volunteering next year." so it would seem we've already been told haha. i just don't know who to get in touch with about it.

Scribbledaway, You would be most welcome to help out with Chazfest. I will pass your info on to the folks who run the show. It will be a while before they are organized about volunteers. Also, you took some terrific photos last year, and Chaz would reallly like a couple high res copies to use in his promo pack. Email him (I think you have the address?) you can also get the address on his website www.washboardchaz.com, please.
