She's equivocating. But she usually goes, last minit. I'll be in Memphis, which is too bad because I love Phila in the usual ten feet of snow.

it's only about 40 min to CC from my front door... my son lives just off Broad St. in the south part of town.

Of course he does! He comes to his mama's house! :) My butcher cuts fresh beef for me when I make them. In fact, the day my son left for boot-camp, that is what he wanted for lunch. He had 4 Cheese steaks. Yes, four... and I make them with double meat and extra cheese, and usually gut the roll. I tell you, if you like hot peppers, it gives them a bit more zing if you add them to the pan and cook 'em as you cook the beef. I shred the beef as I put it in the pan too, and don't use much oil, just a splash of olive oil. That kid can eat me out of house and home when he has the chance. Believe it or not, he's not a sweet eater and we had to get him to pose to pretend to be eating a beignet at Cafe Du Monde! ... but in Philly, his favorite place for cheese steaks is Talk of the the Town (or Tawk of the town as I call it)... but Tony Luke's does the best Italian pork.

oh boy... oh yes, I so understand... didn't do so good last night, when I thought this was beginning to reside. Ugh... this stuff hangs on a while. It obviously wasn't one of my cheese steaks. :) I get to watch the butcher cut the meat for those!
...but seriously, a ride over the bridge is no biggie for us at all. You're talking to a Memere who does weekly 1 hr rides to Newark, DE, and an hour back... going into Philly, is never a big deal... after all that is where I grew up. Every time we cross the Walt Whitman bridge, my poor husband still gets the tour even after all these years. LOL "there's my old grammar school, there's my cousin Barbara's house, that's where Uncle Bill used to live, there's our old house, that was grandma's...."
If you guys want to get together for a bite, let us know. Nothing is written in stone, we're pretty flexible.

Sounds yummy! I like moderately hot peppers; enough to taste the zing, but not enough to kill your tastebuds. Cooking them with the meat probably would be delicious. I don't get to Philly enough, as I'm usually in and up to Chalfont to see the in-laws without seeing much more than the airport.

well, the so called hot peppers you get any more, are anything but hot. They are basically banana peppers and not really the red hot cherry one's that my gramps used to grow in his back yard and put in vinegar for sammiches. Those were hot and you'd never want to eat the seeds. That's one reason I like to fry 'em with the meat, and then put the cheese over top, to melt. I found Cabot Cheddar, at the deli counter, so that's a real treat to have... not just american. Of course, Pepper Jack is good too, and I've never been a fan of cheese whiz on a cheese steak... blah... a few nice sauteed onions, some ketchup... but if I'm eating a plain steak sammich, no onions, no hots... then I seem to like yellow mustard on it, the way my dad ate it. Weird the way we eat things differently, yet the same, ya know?
Where I am in south NJ, is about half way between Wilmington and Ocean City or Philly and Ocean City... if you fine Vineland on the Map, I live just outside the city limits by about 2 blocks into Gloucester County.
