I would seriously consider getting a short term rental. I got a carriage house in the Garden District for a very reasonable price....I actually know the owners but there are tons of Mardi Gras rentals on craigslist for way cheaper than any of the hotel prices!
Check 'em out!

I had an email today from my friend, Jean, asking me to come down for MG day... that they need me to be a mermaid for the Big Sleazy Fish Market... sob... I wanna be a big sleazy Mermaid... I could do that, I could... don't big sleazy mermaids wear leather corsets? See, I could... I mean what's more important, a new water heater or going to MG??

Just send hubby off to Lowe's! He can do it, they can help! Besides, what's a few cold showers compared to Mardi Gras??

Ummm, that sounds to me like a Code Red, Defcon 3, Orange Alert - your friend needs you and you must attend. Mermaids for the Fish Market are a matter of national security. Hubby to Lowe's and you to New Orleans.:D

Hope everyone has a fantastic time on Mardi Gras! This year is sure an early one, isn't it?
Yesterday, I was talking on the phone to a friend in New Orleans and she tells me that Mardi Gras will never again be this early for our entire lives.

According to her, it won't be this early again for about 80 years. She said she thinks there are only two other possible dates where Mardi Gras could be earlier.

Local folks probably know about this, and it may have been posted elsewhere, but just in case you're looking for something to do : www.backbeatfoundation.org
