Sounds great. NOLA influence is bound to make it great.

Garcia put out a kid CD with Grisman years ago and you know some of these CD's are just good for kids and adults alike:D

Sounds cool. Another good one for kids a touch older is New Orleans Playground. Check out Kermit's "Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner".

How fun! Thank you, HH. I hadn't heard about this one. It's definitely on the list for my niece.

Another good one is "Choo-Choo Boogaloo", by Buckwheat Zydeco. It came out in the '90s, when my daughter was a sprout. It was one of her beloved favorites, along with "Beethoven Lives Upstairs", "Peter & The Wolf", & many others.

Just ordered one for my neice and nephew. Thanks!!! Can't wait to hear it. They love Saints go marching...we parade/secondline around the house with instruments and my 4 year old nephew is the leader. This is going to be fun :)

Bumping this, beecuase I heard some of it on OZ this morning.

I have no kids, so I'm a bit clueless, but what is the target age of this album? I know it's advertised as for "kids of all ages", but most 11 year olds will turn it off when the Hokey Pokey comes on, right?

Good bump. Hadn't seen that before and just ordered it based on the artists alone. Target audience depends at least in part on the kid imo. If they already like this kind of music, they'll like the songs no matter how old they are. And as for the "Hokey Pokey," I was at a "Daddy Daughter" dance with my two older daughters (almost 9 and almost 7) a few weeks ago, and although Hannah Montana and Hilary Duff tunes were obviously big hits, "Hokey Pokey" was probably the biggest hit of the night because of the silly crowd participation factor, much like at a wedding. So...if it's gotta be played, at least with this disc it's Funky Sam playing it.

Since my girls got hooked on Fest at young ages, they actually like the real stuff themselves and have their own favorites--especially Kermit, Rebirth and Sunpie, each of whom they can readily identify, and whom they request often(gotta be increasingly careful with the Rebirth and some of the Kermit lyrics around them now though...). They have the Garcia kid's disc, which they used to like a lot, and also "Choo Choo Boogaloo," which they still like too. But I think Sunpie's self-titled disc is probably their favorite of all. Some six years since first hearing it, they still request "Tomato Song," "Sally Brown" and "I've Got a Date" at least once a week, and every time we are in the car.
