Hey everyone, I just wanted to turn y'all on to a couple Jackson Hole musicians who are definitely going places. Issac Hayden was a year younger than me in high school, and Margo was in my brother's class, 3 years younger than me, and she is my third cousin discovered when I was about 15 or 16 (crazy ass story that should be on Oprah or something, tell you bout it later in person, too long to write down).
Anyway, Issac sings to mostly accoustic guitar and I've been very impressed with his song writing ability. He's kind of along the lines of a Jack Johnson or Jeff Buckeley, and his passion and emotions really come across in hsi singing. Check him out at http://www.myspace.com/isaachayden . Listen to his live tracks as well as the studio stuff. I think he sounds like a better live performer, but I can't say from personal experience....yet.
Margo Valiante, as I said is a distant relative of mine, who I've known since she was 6 or 7. It wasn't until her high school graduation, which I was at because it was also my brother's, that I even learned she had any musical talent. Now, after 4 years of formal music education at Skidmore in upstate New York, she is singing and playing in hotels, bars, and restaurants full time in Jackson Hole. Amy and I had the pleasure of seeing her with a local band she has started playing with called the Boondocks. Lets just say that in the 60% of the songs they played where she was the lead, it's hard to even hear the other instruments. Her voice is incredibly powerful, and while she has only a handful of original songs at this point, there is little doubt in my mind that with her voice, good looks, and girl next door demeanor, she could run the table on American Idol, not that she would ever want to, definitely not her thing... Check her out at http://www.myspace.com/margov . You can also hear her live performance of "My Mama Don't Know" and "Crawdad Song (singing backup...if you can call it that)" with the Boondocks at http://www.myspace.com/boondocksband .
Enjoy, and let me know what you think!!
