OMG!!!! One of my favorite bands from the late 70s/early 80s!!! I wonder if Ricky (Good GAWD, he's hot) Cortez (bass player) will be back with them & I think Chris Luckett was their drummer. If you can find a copy of The Percs "My Dahlin New Orleans", it;s a classic!

It may be, but I didn't see it on Jambase, and Tip's doesn't have their calendar up yet for April/May. Tips often has two shows, one early (9-10pm), another late (1am), so it might be set up that way.

yep, they absolutely take stuff off the grids...that's happened in years past, as well.

U know what - that's SOOOOO true - but there is a silver lining - any way you slice it ...it promotes local music and musicians to the whole world ..

Absolutely - it always cracked me up to see stuff appear on their grids soon after they appeared on ours. Plus, when things change (times, bands, etc.) we always update our grids, they often never get around to changing theirs.

So the "Almost World Famous Grids" are the best!

Is BB a trust fund baby ... i mean how the hell does he afford what he does?

he uses public/mass transit, rarely/never pays a cover, drinks soda, i've never seen him eat (probably lives on ramen noodle), wears vintage clothing - which you can find cheap if you shop around. he lives simply/cheaply.

i've heard rumors he was/is a social worker.

i think you'll find club dates changing as the fest draws near, sometimes bookings are changed, sometimes bad info was posted on websites and later corrected. shows change at the last minute - that's why we always stress to call & verify dates/times before showing up at a venue - especially if you're cabbing.

but sometimes a band or person is playing more than one gig in the same night - early & late.

The Whats New Page on the Grids website experienced a glitch when I was updating it last night. Currently working on restoring it. It would be nice to know (or be re-assured) that the same scenario did not occur on any of the actual grid pages, though its much tougher to tell (the issue is that when updating the pages, occasionally the updated page ends up being an older version rather than the one that I submitted) ... So, if anyone in their free time wants to scan over the entries and alert me to anything that was there and now isnt (these are the only cases I care about regarding this problem), please let me know via email @ dkutcher@dicorp.com

Never too much Kermit! I so hope Marriott does the free concerts on the stage outside again. It was too cool walking 100 feet from my hotel to see Kermit throw down a killer show. Marc Broussard preceeded, and was way funkier than I've ever heard him. In between sets, popped in across the street at Sheraton for a free show by Sunpie and then Big Sam(?).
It was actually a Marriott promo for their new stylish room decor- the stage was atop a glass enclosed "show room". So I kinda doubt it will repeat :(

Yeah, I think the Sheraton gigs were taking marketing advantage of them being the "official" sponsor hotel of the Fest. So they seem more likely to return this year.

The trio is traditionally Johnny V, George, and one other person, with additional guests. You can see some of the past lineups at http://www.nolatapers.org/. This is going to be almost as terrible as El's 40th b-day in SF was on Saturday with Zig, George, Ivan, Renard Poche, and Mark Mullins ;)

The Trio

Featuring Johnny Vidacovich, George Porter Jr., Theresa Andersson, June Yamagishi, Trombone Shorty and Ivan Neville

"For nearly three years, Johnny Vidacovich and George Porter Jr. have been inviting musicians to team up with them as a trio. Backed by two of New Orleans premiere musicians (I am very hesitant to call them a rhythm section--they are much more than that), the revolving third slot has been filled by a Who's Who of New Orleans, including Eric Traub (Dr. John), Mark Mullins (Mulebone, Harry Connick Jr.), Tony Degradi (Astral Project), John Gros (Papa Grows Funk), Nicholas Payton, Clarence Johnson III (Runnin Pardners), Brian Stoltz (funky Meters), Tab Benoit, and David Torkanowsky (Astral Project), as well as non-New Orleanian Luther Dickinson (North Mississippi Allstars). Most often, and according to Porter most comfortably, the slot has been filled by June Yamagishi (Papa Grows Funk). When Yamagishi joins Porter and Vidacovich, it's not just a trio--it's The Trio" - Jeffrey P. Dupuis (Jambase.com)
