Don't forget to check Pollstar.com!
Typically most acts are contracturally bound from giving Pollstar that info until it's released by the festival. Some violate that anyway.

I'll send you an e Dank re club info updates. I have not looked at the grids recently but I know that there are a number of changes from last year that we did not have time to make. In that vein, the UNO Lakefront Arena will be opening right about fest time (good news for concerts here in NOLA!) and the arena has booked High School Musical On Ice for the second weekend:

Are confusing Grids and Dailies here? During my festal virgin year (last year), weren't the grids for the Daze Between? Since I'll be there for the whole enchalada this time, they'll be important to me. Thanks for your upcoming effort, Dank. I'm looking forward to buying you an adult beverage.

Lester, the grids include events outside the fairgrounds, starting with the Tuesday before first weekend and going through the Tuesday after second weekend. Daytime and nighttime events-clubs, instores, minifestivals. They also include links to the schedule of artists and authors for the cd and book tents at the fairgrounds.

That is very good news. I just love that woman!! Seeing her at Fest last year was so awesome it had been forever. I grew up in Texas and participated heavily (:D ) in the Austin scene in the 70's. Her band Freda and the Firedogs were hot. They always played a little place called the Split Rail and was one of the few bars open for Sunday night jigs. Would drive over to Austin most weekends and she always finished the weekend for me. WooHoo Glad she is coming again.

Krauss was clearly stunned by how completely Plant adapted to new styles – or, rather, old styles. “When you hear him on a traditional song such as Your Long Journey, and you think this man spellbound the world with how he sang and the way he looked, and there he is singing with absolutely no ego, just taking a supporting role – his love for this music is so obvious.”
She reveals that the pair will be touring in April. The tour is scheduled to start in America, at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, then come over to the UK. More than this, they are already thinking about a second album. “The fact that T Bone and Alison want to record some more songs in January is really worrying me,” says Plant, subtly edging into the subject of Led Zep, “because I’m going to need to rest my voice after the O2. We’re rehearsing like loonies. I woke up this morning and I couldn’t speak – but I never sang Kashmir as well as I did yesterday.”

I luvs that Gospel Tent. I remember last year . . . I spent weeks agonizing over the cubes and FOMS. I finally had it all planned out. I walked in past the Gospel Tent, heard an acapella group singing "Down By The Riverside." I went in, and presto! my carefully structured plan was in the trash. No regrets though, and a lesson learned for 2008. I don't need no steenking plan. If you follow your ears, you can't not have a good time.

That has become the secret, although there is the occasional overriding BNA act, which I would call the Springsteen Exception, and Mrs. AtP would call the Rod Stewart Exception. But through the years it has become harder to get around quickly due to the crowds and the expansion across the track, and more satisfactory overall to stick to one stage or tent. Now if that softshell crab po-boy booth only delivered.

Twangorama were a highlight for me last year. A must see for guitargeeks.
Definitely a surprise favorite for me last year a I was wandering through stop and stay delight!! Thier cd does not do thier live performance justice....from thier web page ....
"In the late 1990’s Jimmy Robinson took many of the ingredients of Woodenhead (including longtime members Paul Clement and Mark Whitaker) and formed the guitar collective called Twangorama. Combined with longtime friend Cranston Clements (arguably the most sought-after New Orleans guitarist in the last 30 years, w/ Dr. John, Stanton Moore,Boz Skaggs, George Porter, Jr., Maria Muldaur and more) and Phil deGruy, (a deeply talented individual, primarily a solo guitarist for years earning accolades and praise from guitar luminaries like Steve Vai, Larry Coryell and Danny Gatton) this progressive guitar powerhouse fuels original and existing material to soaring new heights with the compositional and arranging talents of everyone on board. The results are in your hand as a brilliantly crafted, enlightening and awe-inspiring collection of jewels. They single-handedly rewrite the book on what New Orleans guitar is today. And the New Orleans connection, while not in your face, is undeniable
"All members of Twangorama were born and bred in New Orleans, and it is bands like Twangorama that are one of those critical ingredients that make the musical gumbo of New Orleans so good and so unique. …enjoy it, for it’s been right under our noses the whole time. Mark Mullins New Orleans 2007"

Dr. John @ HOB, Fri. 4/25. He must enjoy playing there. He played two shows just before New Year's and he's coming back for MG.

Big names so far:
Robert Plant/Alison Krause
