stevie wonder!
he played a 2 1/2 hour set and was amazing.
the only song he didn't play that i really wanted to hear was boogie on reggae woman. he is doing that song on the tour, just didn't do it in nashville. (damn it)
the top two people on my list to see that i haven't seen can now be checked off and i saw them both this year. (van morrison at jazz fest and now stevie wonder)
i would still love to see stevie wonder at jazz fest so the rest of you guys can see him. (those of you who haven't)
i haven't been around in the last 2 or 3 weeks. been out of town for the holidays to visit my family and my fiancée family. also been working a lot.
after the holidays i'll have more free time to post. can't wait!

I'd pay the price of the ticket to just hear Signed, Sealed, Delivered.
What a great tune, I wish it was a bit more stretched out, so short.
Wish I would have caught him this tour.

Stevie's show in Chicago this summer was a highlight of the year for me. The THOUGHT of him performing at fest is exciting. Glad you got to see him, funk!

after he did signed, sealed, delivered, he started talking about how that song still has a lot of life in it and he would like to see someone do it as a country song. he then went on to do it country style.
you should have seen the people gettin' down to i wish.

That was hilarious ... the man has a sense of humor with his music. When he did Ribbon in The Sky in Baltimore this summer, he tagged the ending like 50 times in a row, doin all kinds of crazy stuff with his voice to the point of absurdity ... he even cracked himself up on many occasions

Yep, that was one of the many things that made the show such a joy - the decication to his mother, his absolute joy in sharing the music & even making fun of it, how he loved it when people sang along, and the total love-fun-positive vibe in the crowd. Reminded me of the feeling at an event a bit farther south in late April-early May.

I wanted to see Stevie while he was here too but tix were a little expensive....Sooo, I did the next best thing. I went to see the DDBB play at Mercy Lounge. Don't get me wrong, I would have loved to have caught Stevie but during DDBB playing Superstition I imagined they were channeling Stevie from about a mile away. Maybe they played it at the same time creating weird Superstition nexus over the Nashvegas. Anyway, just a thought.

Hey, nashvegas, I saw the Dozen just before or after you when they were in Bill Clinton's first capital city. He was the answer to one of my trivia questions today. They rocked the place! Great show. Lots of beautiful solos.

He came to Houston and I missed him..... Everywhere I turn I am hearin' how good he was... damn it!!!!!! What was I thinknin'.....
He is so damn cool! I have a '73 recording of a show in Berkley where he does I Was Made To Love Her as a funk tune, kinda like Rufus might do it...
In fact I read once that Rufus's version prompted him to write Tell me Somethin' Good for Chaka and the boys. Check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FD2X8Gzl2lU
