That sounds like a great job, congrats. Just think what a challenge it will be. It's everyones dream to own their own restaurant. Somewhere, they is someone who has sunk everything they had, re-financed and then waited for the people to come back to NOLA and second guessed themselves the entire time. It has probably cost them a marriage. If this show is able to get just one place back into shape, then it will be a success. I am here if you need anything, Let me know how u like your porterhouse. Send me an e-mail, Doll (at red_beansandrice at yahoo.com)!!! My friend Gloria has a tenant who is vacating one of her apartments (and it's fully furnished) in the Bywater and she's looking for a tenant. We could be neighbors!! ;)

It's fully furnished and she does short-term rentals!!

P.S. - I'm SO excited you're gonna be down here for awhile, chica!! WOO HOO!! :D

I was thinking anywhere really but you talking Algiers? Kinda wanna stay closer....
I was thinking with Christmas coming I would like it much more to be in an apartment so I could at least decorate a bit and not be such the business traveler during the holidays....that seems depressing. Nola is NOT depressing to me but this will be kinda different being away by myself around the holidays.
Heck, I may just enjoy the heck out of it. Maybe I'll even get a tree if I am there over Christmas.
No complaining here, after all the soldiers are all away from their loved ones over the holiday. I have all of you great people there to spend time with!

Michael and everyone, thank you so much for your well wishes. You are all extremely supportive! Thanks for all the nice emails as well.

Congrats Tangie... how friggin cool are you? :D

Don't spose it would be appropriate to do something with that couple who nearly started their dream restaurant and then it was wrecked you know when and then they tried again and nearly gave up for lack of dollars and then that doctor gave them some cash and now they're open for business and we want them to do really well so they can pay it forward. That one.

Man, the ones that struggle around here seem to close down so fast you hardly have a chance to help them. This will take some thought!

Zbonnie

From the episodes I've seen so far, each time I've thought to myself "my God, how can these people let themselves and their restaurants been seen like this on TV?" Filthy, roach and mold-infested kitchens, raging egos, total ineptitude, family squabbles, etc. etc. It ain't pretty! Yes, in the end, Gordon Ramsey works his magic and everything is rosy. He definitely does have the ability to pinpoint the problem areas and get them fixed. But, still, would I want to eat in one of those restaurants that was formerly filthy with owners that were shown to be idiots? I think not. Just my opinion -- it takes a lot of balls, desperation and faith in yourself and eventual outcome to put yourself and your restaurant on a reality show where the drama comes from first showing the audience the worst parts.

kimmienalex
12-04-2007, 03:14 PM
FunkK,thx...I just realized that every single ornament and decor that I'd ever had in my hole life is gone taken by someone who doesn't care about them the way I do...so I've plenty of shades in the house tho not bamboo(cool)...
Merry Christmas

The weather is so damn nice here. I didn't bring enough clothes for weather in the 70's. What was I thinking?

I gotta tell you....."Oh Holy Night" is by far my very favorite Christmas song. Their performance of it last night just blew me away and brought tears to my (and many) eyes. Shorty started it with a solo trumpet as he did on that tv thing last year....just soulful and somber and then Shades of Praise jumped in with the "Fall on your knees..." verse. Then there was a female soloist that sang the song over with the choir and the orchestra and Shorty. I had goosebumps on top of goosebumps! A great night.

I have goosebumps just reading that!

KITCHEN HELP WANTED?

Fox TV's Kitchen Nightmares is looking for a New Orleans area restaurant to benefit from Chef Gordon Ramsay's tough love help. The email pitch we received asked, "Are you a first time restaurant owner who sunk your life into the restaurant and now need help to make it work? Are you in a fantastic location & you still don't appeal to the customers? Do you use the excuse that you are in a bad location? Do the owner and staff have a different vision for the restaurant? Has your restaurant been open for many years and you are no longer doing the same business you used to?" If you answered yes to some of those questions and have a thick skin, email Katy Sarge at ksargecast@gmail.com. Include your full name, your restaurant's name, the location of your restaurant, and contact numbers. Include the names of all owners, chefs, their roles, and be clear about the issues as you see them. Interested restaurants must have been open for at least a year and have 35 seats or more.

Yay! What a great choice! Before the thing, praline connection had 2 locations. the second was where the Howling Wolf is currently located. It was a buffet that i'm guessing served conventioneers. I love Praline connection and the folks who run it and yyr, it's been pretty slow every time i've been in. I sure hope yall don't mess with their chicken livers, fried chicken, yams and mac and cheese though, unless it's to kick it up a notch! Their decor could definitely use a makeover. Seems if they would stay open later, they'd do great on frenchmen. I think they need smaller plates of food so they can charge less. $13 for chicken, beans and rice and greens is kinda steep for your avg peep. WAhoo! Can't wait to see what the plan is for them!

Tangie, you might want to give Chef Ramsey a heads up on this one. His whole show seems to be predicated on the viewer getting some kind of vicarious thrill out of watching him make the restraunteur his bitch for an hour at a time, but fans of NOLA and the restaurant aren't going to appreciate seeing that kind of treatment. Given what the place (and the city) has been through, I sure hope the dude exhibits a little sensitivity in this case....
