If you know me at all, you know that the final piece of storm repair to our home was wallpapering the 1/2 bath. For 2 1/2 years, I have begged, pleaded and even asked strangers on the street if they could hang wallpaper. It depressed me so much, that when I went in there I NEVER turned on the light. It was my last, personal daily reminder of the thing and I hated it with a passion.
Well....Mama & Papa Roux came down for a long weekend to visit with their navy son and took two days out of their precious vacation to wallpaper our bathroom.
When they were done, I sat in that bathroom, with the light on and cried for about a half an hour. It's beautiful.
ANyway, just a big, public thank you. You have no idea how big this was for me. :)

Glad for a good outcome albeit late. I just wish I had known. Hubby and me love to wallpaper. Don't even fight during it...other times well
Sure would have helped had I known. But in the end it was good tears.
Happy for you.

I fall into open cans of house paint myself, so I truly appreciate these talents. And we (Mrs Mich and I) are glad that one more memory of that awful thing is gone for you Jenn.

So what is a 1/2 bathroom anyway? I see it all the time in real estate adverts (not, um, that I'm looking) and often wonder what it is... and which half.

Actually, come to think of it, the term means no bath at all, just sink and toilet.

WooHoo for the Rouxs! Many gifts given, much warmth received, I'm sure.
Excellent :)
And if it makes you feel any better, even as a frequent guest at Chez Jamn, I never noticed the problem...

boy oh boy... with all the stuff Jenn does for everyone, like letting us crash at her beautiful house, how could we not all just be there to help one another... that's what our family of friends does for one another, right? We wanted to take them out to dinner and we went to Martinique's on Magazine and David insisted on picking up the check. Sheesh...
Barry and Nancy had offered to do the powder room, but Jenn and David, being Jenn and David, always want every one to come down and have just fun, well, we had plenty of fun even if we had to argue with them to let us do it. Next time, just pick an easier wall paper, okay, Jenn? LOL Rosie's fishy's all look great in there, and I loved the new lamp! It was really great to see our son for the first time in 2 months, but next time, we'll remind the sleepy daughter in law that There is more to New Orleans than beignets! Fulton St was fun... Snow in New Orleans! Got to see several other friends as well and deliver their Christmas cookies in person this year and we even had one romantic dinner, something I can now cross off my 100 things to do before you die list... a dinner at Commanders Palace. Actually we wanted to go to Brigsten's but they are closed on Sunday. Commander's was so nice, had two great eggnog flips, an oyster artichoke absinthe puff pastry thingy that was marvelous, and from the Reveillon menu, broiled Pompano over rice with fried oysters, and their Creole Cream Cheese Cake. I couldn't have a complete Reveillon meal like John did, because they had lobster and crab in several of the courses, but everything was just soooooo good.
After dinner we went to visit our friends Dona and John who just may be able to rebuild back in Lakeview after all! Papa is going to check into a few things for them and hopefully he'll find the best info out there. It's good to be married to a Structural/Civil engineer... although it depends on his mood just how civil.. LOL OH I love that joke! LOL
it was a great trip! I got to shop for the baby and found her the white stuffed alligator I wanted to bring home, and got her a copy of Papa Noel signed by the author, and Louie the Bouy survives the storm, also signed by the author and a Saint's collar for the dog for part of his Christmas present, too. One of the funniest things was taking the kids to RnB to see Dash Rip Rock!
I think my son thought being at Jenn's was fun enough... he's been away from his own cats for the past two months and he was in heaven having cats around, that's for sure!
... and that Jenn, she sure makes a damn fine pecan breakfast cake! I forgot to snag the last piece to bring home!
There will be food porn photos to come.

Glad yall had a great trip to Nola Mama. Thank you & Pappa for wallpapering the Jamn's bathroom, that was so sweet of you two. Glad your son got to have his kibbie fix at their house, those Jamn kibbies are so fun & sweet.

This was an awesome story....what a great thing for yall to do. And I can attest that Jenn even asked me a couple of times when I was there, "HEY, you know how to wallpaper??"
