Hi all!

I have set up a trivia challenge on FunTrivia.com for the Threadhead Nation! Specially chosen quizzes of interest to us (I hope)

To play in the Threadhead Trivia challenge, simply go to http://my.funtrivia.com/tournament/Threadhead-Trivia-78731.html

New questions will appear each day, and everyone can compare scores at the link above throughout the day. Try to answer questions quickly, because the quizzes are timed. The best cumulative scores at the end of the month go into the hall of fame.

See you there!

I know little about rap and nothing about opera. Did okay on all the stuff in between, though.

Todays topic is Music (Intermediate difficulty), but tomorrow is a custom topic called the Threadhead Special.

Just an a FYI -- everyone gets randomly selected questions from the question bank, so everyone is not getting exactly the same questions.

I got a question about Portuguese music and one about the Spice Girls - got both wrong!

8 for me as well :) Currently in third as the lovely and talented Mel (Gris Gris) is leading the pack.

I didn't realize it was speed timed as well. I got tripped up on a couple of questions. One was about Country music. I guessed Tim McGraw, but it was the wrong response.

It was fun, I wanna do it again!

Are there playoffs? It seems my quarterback was a little slow in the first round.

No playoffs, but if you play every day, you can rise up in the monthly rankings.

That seems to be my only hope at the moment.

I missed the religious hymn question ;)

Opera? There was Opera? So why did I end up with three *&*!@# Disney movie questions?

Amy Winette
12-01-2007, 01:32 PM
Oooh, I was worried about that timing thing too, Jeff's darn slow computer froze up on me (he's always downloading something I think) ;) Looks like you still get more points for correct answers than speed though (assuming you don't walk away from the computer for a long time).

Thanks, that was fun. I got 10 out of 10 in 129 seconds. My son gave me a quiz last week that was all about him, sadly I didn't do nearly as well. I guess we can all figure out where my priorities lie!:) Music is a much easier game than parenting teenagers.

saturn
12-01-2007, 03:17 PM
For the Threadhead Special, I was able to go in and select from broad categories to make up a set of questions -- I looked for questions on New Orleans, Louisiana, booze, food and specific types of music (jazz, blues, etc).

Oh, and I threw in a few American Idol questions.

No, everyone does not get the same questions -- you get 10 randomly generated questions from the bank. That is the default setup in the system.

I can change it so everyone gets the same questions, but it would take the lovely element of chance out of the game. ;)

LMAO, jgt. I'm glad (and for all of your classmates) that you didn't burn K instead of Cu. But it is cool to really fire up pennies...

What happens if you read all the questions first and don't hit the "submit my answers" button. Can you leave the site, do some research, come back and play, and get them all correct? Just asking.

Looks like you can, but it remembers when you first accessed the site, so your total time goes way up. It would be obvious that you used too many seconds.

Haven't see where you can pause. Phone calls get in the way-work from home.

The longer you take the lower your score. I answered 9 right on day one and left the keyboard and my score was really low. Lets what I gather.

These are the standard topics and most come in different levels of difficulty:

animals
celebrities
general knowledge
geography
history (tends to focus on US history)
literature
hobbies
movies
people
religion
science & technology
sports

Don't know, but I don't think Hendrix played upside down and backwards. Played a right handed Strat upside down, but it was strung correctly (low strings at the top of the neck) as opposed to say Albert King and Otis Rush, where it was a right hand guitar turned upside down but strung the same (low string at the bottom of the neck i.e. backwards.)

And as a result of retaining that useless fact, another family birthday has been pushed out of my brain. :)

Now back to your regular programming.

If I'm onto the same guy as Bream, he's the only person to ever receive guitar instruction from Jimi...in fact Jimi gave him the stage name he was always known by from then on.

His step dad was a well respected jazz drummer in the 50's, played with the likes of Rahsaan Roland Kirk, Cannonball Adderly, and Gerry Mulligan. Then played in our mystery man's band in the 60's thru the 90's...

Randy California from Spirit?

That's correct I think, but the judges are disallowing the question as Randy California wasn't lefty and didn't play upside down or backwards. Everybody wins!!!

Buddy Miles, folks. When is he coming to JF???? Arrrrrghhhhh!!!!

And I suppose JH didn't do anything upside down or backwards. He played a standard strat, but left handed. That's all. Not much else there to see. Move on.

So I'll see how bad I suk tomorrow :)

Yeah, I've never heard that Randy played an upside down Strat. Saw him play many times over the years and when he played one it was always a regular righty model. Jimi did coach him though, when he was a teenager and playing with Jimi's 'Jimmy James & the Flames' in NYC I think. There was another Randy in the band who was from Texas, so to avoid confusion Jimi called this Randy 'Randy California', and it stuck. RIP Randy!

The curtain! The curtain! No, the box! I'll take the box!

I thought it was Buddy Miles, but wasn't absolutely sure. I was gonna guess Sterling Billingsley just for fun, though! :)

I thought the other Randy was from West Virginia?
