Housing Homeless Street Performers
Please Help
(Upper 9th ward, New Orleans)
The street musicians bunkhouse is housing street performers. We're located in Bywater where the film "Kamp Katrina" was filmed. Street performers fuel the economy but they don't make a lot of money yet they work long hours and make it possible for the rest of us. Tourism is important and the tourists love them. Help us serve this valuable cultural resource. We believe most of this can be done without throwing more money at the problem. Construction waste is rampant. We have received donations for insulation, lumber, siding, and sheet rock all from discarded materials and one 25 dollar Home Depot gift card from a musician in California.
The musicians bunkhouse will house you if you are a street performer, photographer, journal, or writer. We are poor but you will have an experience you will never forget.
Our needs:
Bunk beds,
Blankets,
Propane for the heater,
Tents for the homeless that camp in the community garden,
Musical instruments,
Outdoor living and cooking items,
Lumber as well as any other home repair items,
Help with maintenance of the garden,
Repair of the house,
Piano repair; we were donated a piano,
A Blogger or any Internet assistance,
Bikes and bike repair,
Food,
Advice and council.

I'm Ms Pearl I'm housing 7 homeless people .Most are street musicians. One just had a cancer removed from his face and can't play the street for a while.He has construction skills and we have managed to replace 3 windows and a door doing day work.
I have a young Flute player who plays the street She really adds so much charm to the French Quarter. Which we all know helps the Economy of the French Quarter, She is sleeping on the floor.If anyone has bedding please help
Here is what we need
Bunk beds , food, blankets, insulation , treated lumber, Plumbing supply's, advice, helping hands.camping items. We still have the tents from the film but need all other camping items, Computer skills,
Someone who can type our stories and songs need to be kept.
We are not a charity and don't ask for cash. I believe We can do this with items no longer needed and excess items from construction. People helping people.
