I'm in NOLA just for the weekend and tonight was my first time at the Rock n Bowl...what a great place!

Who was playing?

Rock n Bowl Is great! Last year was my first time. Saw Anders Osbourne, Tab Benoit & Amanda Shaw. And yes we bowled! :D

Welcome to quintessential NOLA! What an icon. Love the place. The first time I was there, we saw Snooks Eaglin. I miss the days of Pay One Price (P.O.P.) when you could run upstairs and downstairs and hear great bands all night with no interruptions. Also, it was easier to get to the downstairs johns. :p

Haven't been out to RnB since Fest '06-need to take priestboy out there. We have a place similar to it called the Milky Way-the music just ain't as good. Glad you got there, Pap.

Oh you were there Saturday night! Tab... yeah, what a great place to see Tab! Okay, so I think anyplace is a great place to see Tab, but I love seeing him at RnB, I really do. It's just so much fun there, isn't it?

Love Rock n Bowl, I will never forget the time I got into town after a long flight. Once I got settled into my hotel room it was like 2am so I went out for a drink. I decided to go to the Rock n Bowl, who was onstage was Sam the Sham. When he did Wooly Bully then followed it with Litttle Red Riding Hood it really tore me up. That place is great.

Everyone should vist the Rock N Bowl at least once. But once is never enough. You will get hooked.

Rosetree...I was hoping to, but the guys I'm with bought their seafood in Metarie...the original plan was to go to a place in Algiers...anyway, we're leaving in a few hours, so I'll see you at JF...

Pap, did John dance? My 07 Jazzfest virgin was groovin along to the Dixie Cups last Fest...which was fab....but then the girls got up on the bar...her eyes got wider...and then John came around the corner and led a second line with those low down groovin Nola ass-shaking moves....well, she ain't never seen anything like that before! I love the Rock n Bowl! :D Glad you had fun -- Tab would be great at the RnB.

Sometimes; sometimes not. Depends on the size of the crowd when the Mid-City Lanes lets out and what else is happening around town. A 45 min.- 1 hour wait was not that uncommon during pre/K Jazz Fest when the downstairs was still open.

Yeah...I love the Rock 'n Bowl. My first time was zydeco night before first weekend this year. Geno Delafose and Chris Ardoin...oh man it was unbelievable... love the place - who could ever believe such a venue could exist?!
yes he did! He started up a second line...that guys knows how to host a party...BTW, are cabs normaly that hard to get coming back from the R&B? It took us close to an hour to get a cab.
Papins, the Bayou Classic (Grambling vs. Southern) was in town this weekend so the cabs were probably hanging around the FQ for lots of sure-thing short-haul fares instead of waiting for a fare at R-n-B. It is usually not that bad.

You can walk across the street katy corner to the fast food joint and call one from the addie there. We have done that with success a few times.

Anyone else there when Boozoo threw the strike in the "Bowl Off" vs. Beau Jocque ? It was one of the damndest things I have ever seen.
