View Full Version : Holiday Inn New Orleans - Chateau LeMoyne

So I was playing around on Hotwire last night and I got a 3 star, boutique in the french quarter for $110 a night (taxes, fees and insurance included - $96 was the hotwire price). Now I did some research and I convinced myself they were talking about the Hotel St Marie, which looked like a nice place and a nice price.
Instead I got Holiday Inn New Orleans - Chateau LeMoyne. I've read some reviews and I'm not feeling too good about what I got. I then went to their site and it looks like their rates are about $130 a night, so I didn't even get that great of a deal. I'm kinda pissed b/c orbitz has them listed at $200 a night for the same dates. So I've got my hotel for the full 10 days, but I'm not very excited about it. Anyone got anything to make me feel better about this? Or is the hotel not that great.

It is not a bad place at all. Its been quite a few years since I stayed there but I had no complaints.

We're staying there! I haven't stayed there before but it looked alright to me. My friend stayed there last year and LOVED it, plus the location is super convenient. I know someone else on the board is staying there too (hmm, somewhere on one of the other threads, run a search mabye). We'll bring wine for a nightly wine tasting, how about that?? :p Plus we're pretty fun, there will be a patry going on every night! :)

Man, you're in the quarter, you saved about $35 a night, you're 4 blocks from Louisiana Music Factory AND you're going to the jazzfest for the whole enchilada!

This year will be our third time staying there Hogan. Great little place . Rooms are a nice size. Pool area and pool absolutely kicks ass. Bar makes a mean pina colada. Front desk staff never impressed me much but the rest of the staff have always been great. Out of the 5 or 6 different hotels we have stayed in on various trips, this is definately our fave. I think we are paying about 185 a night, so you got our price beat pretty good.
Just hope you are not staying on the same floor as us, cause we seem to bring bad ice-machine mojo with us. If we are on the floor you can almost guarantee the ice machine wont work. PS- Why do I feel a pool party coming on :D .

I've stayed there on bidness a few times, but never really got to enjoy the amenities, which it does have.
Nice place and got good sleep. Excellent location for business or fun. Lot of history behind the building, one of the oldest in the FQ.

Site says $28 a day and parking by valet only. It also says they have 50 spots . I dont recall seeing a lot of garage traffic last year.
There was alot of construction going on in the surrounding buildings last year so it was tough to get a good read on the street parking availability.

We get free on-site parking at Le Richelieu but won't have a car... wonder if that's something I could offer to someone else staying close by. If you're staying near and want me to ask... let me know. Ha, maybe I could auction the parking spot off and add to raffle proceeds.

Sweet KK and Neen!! (And La Ti Da if she ends up there). Dunno about parking as we never drive in NOLA . . . Right near Bourton & Canal so I'm not thinking there's much street parking.

From their website...
Our front entrance is at 1234 Chartres Street, between Gov. Nicholls and Barracks Streets, with the entrance to the parking lot on Barracks Street.
Think it's the other end of the Quarter from you lot!

Hogan I've stayed there several times (this is my 19th year) and I'm staying there with a fun krew the second weekend this year. The rooms are fine; nothing exotic but clean and comfortable hotel rooms. Nice courtyard/pool and nice bar attached. Staggering distance from DejaVu (24 hr food) and the Erin Rose on Conti. Don't be worried!! It will more tahn "do"! We'll hook up for a cocktail or two!

My friends and I always joke that we ALWAYS pick the lamest hotels to stay at in terms of things bieng quiet and nothing ever goes on. Little chance of that complaint bieng made this year:D
On our two previous stays we have had Bienville Street balconies. With the exception of the occasional loud drunk (on the street ,not us) and occasional garbage truck, its pretty much been quiet.

I took a quick look at Hotwire and don't think it's still there -- the closest one is $132 a night and no mention of the word "boutique", altho it is a 3 star hotel in the FQ. Would hate to book and then find out it's not the HICL. I already have a hotel in the CBD, but it's refundable and I was thinking I might change and be closer to all of you, 'cos we're a couple of gals travelling on our own, and hey, it'll be much more fun to be wit chew guys...

VW, I don't think it said "boutique" -- just 3 star in French Quarter. Price sounds about right. I'm scared to tell you to do it just in case it turns out to be something else though. Neen, what was the description when you booked on hotwire? Would be fun to have you girls there with us for sure!!

It didnt say boutique on the main page where hotles and prices are listed, but when you click on the deal for details, Boutique was listed where the amenities were.
Also, when I was booking the room, The deal didnt show up when I tried 4/28-5/8, but did when I eneterd 4/27-5/8

FWIW, 2nd weekend 4* downtown customer favorite with a pool on hotwire is the intercontinental.
I was hoping for the St. James.
Anybody stay here before? Recently?
My main concern are the beds. Usually the Sheraton is the 4* cust fave on Hotwire, and we love those pillow top beds. Do the beds at the intercontinental suck?

I have a room at HI Royal Street in the French Quarter that I no longer need. From Friday the 27th through Sunday Night (checking out Monday). They are sold out for those dates and I will sell my room at cost. I hear good things about the hotel. I'm staying there in another room.
Respond if you are interested.
Happy Dancing,
Kathy

Cool, you lived in Tahoe! I used to work at Sierra Ski Ranch before they changed it to Sierra at Tahoe. It is really beautiful there, I go back a lot.
Ever go to Lavish Green or to Meatcutters?

A lot of threadheads are there for both weekends and the daze between Jerry :)
Zydekitten currently resides in the Tahoe area. We've got quite a few bay area threadheads, Mymecca & Greg, and Goose in San Fran, Swampie in Forrestville, RonB in Redwood City, RitaZero in Santa Cruz (and more I can't recall at the moment!)

Okay, ready to roll. I hate the packing, but love the unpacking! The gimp necessities are in place: painkillers, infrared heating pad, orthotics and very unattractive sandals. I will post a report from the front tomorrow night! Staking out balconies for the T-Heads....

So, is there gonna be a problem for those of us who are not guests to invade the pool area for the raffle drawing? Maybe gotta give a guest's name (yeah, like I know people's real last names!) and/or have one come down to the lobby and get you?
Hi Bonnie - use my name if they ask, which I doubt they will.

I feel so alone:confused: Checked weeks ago about anyone at the Maison Dupuy and it seemed we have a great place with a 24 hour pool but no threadheads. Anyone?

That's OK Belle. We are at Place D Arms on St Ann with a great pool and I don't think there are any other Threadheads there either. But next year I'm gonna find out where Threadhead central is before I make a ressie.

Stayed there a few times and never got so much as a second look walking into the hotel. Very laid back place. Dont forsee getting in as a problem. Bunch of peeps with varying amounts of alchol in em hanging out by pool, might be a problem:D

Hi Belle, I'm not staying at DuPuy either, but we did stay there a few years ago. I was surprised to find that there were few festers there. I met people in the hot tub, etc (nice, BTW) who were there during jazzfest, but never heard of jazzfest!
My krewe has found (and we intend to keep!) a B&B right near Port of Call where we can take the whole place (6 rooms) including our own kitchen, dining room, pool & hot tub. Aaaaahh...... They are booked every year by one group 1st weekend and our group 2nd.
Y'all have fun at LeMoyne!!!! See ya around town.
