I'm planning to fly into NOLA tomorrow night for a long weekend.
I have the option to take an extra day off work and standby for an earlier flight.
Is Halloween "not to be missed" in New Orleans??? Also, are there any processions on Thursday that one might recommend and is it appropriate for a tourist? I always worry about protocol.
Help!

I try to spend as many Halloweens in New Orleans as possible, although since it is in the middle of the week this year, it may not be as rockin' as usual. I'm coming to town tomorrow as well and I think I'm just going to play it by ear. There are some good bands around town tomorrow night, and I'm curious about the Big Lebowski Party at the Rock N' Bowl; I may end up there, maybe.
I'm sure the locals can give you more advice than I...

My thought is that any extra time that can be spent in La. is worth it. Go for the earlier flight.

Just go and stay as long as you can!!! Being in New Orleans is better than being most other places...as you know. Holloween on Wednesday? Who cares it is a good time no matter! Have a ball and post about the adventure!

Thank you everyone for your replies.
Both Rock and Bowl and the parade on St Charles sound fabulous!
I'm just torn because I have the majority of my work wrapped up but I report to someone who doesn't like last minute requests. I'm also saving time in order to do both weekends in April/May. It's like deciding if you want the bbq oysters or the softshell crab!
I'll ponder during my commute home.
I'll see many of you over the weekend.
Thank you again.

The "good" Linda woke up this morning and decided to go into work. The buyer I work with was out for the last two days and I have some catching up to do with her. That and I'm a wimp when it comes to my boss!
I'm a lucky gal that I get about ten days of jazz festing in and now an extended weekend in the fall. (Using my time now that I didn't use for a Chicago World Series!)
I would really like to see one of parades during the early evening. I may land in time to join some of you at Rock and Bowl.
Have a fun and safe Halloween Threadheads!

Thank you I will...the bad Linda will emerge around five this evening.
We'll make up for it sometime this winter at Fitzgeralds, Linda! If I can't do Mardi Gras in NOLA; Chicago is a great alternative.

There is a ball this year at MG World for Krewe of Boo (musical guests inc. "Troy Andrews")& Haunted House which was named the #2 Hanuted House in the country.
Blaine Kern says the parade will roll in 2008 and he plans on makin New Orleans the #1 destination for Halloween!!!!

Maybe they'll be costumed as time travelers...
