So I was jonesing for some new stuff after listening to jaypee's fusion compilation and I thought i'd take a look at bmg. You know, buy 1, get 12 free. Comes out to $5 or less per cd. And check out what i found-
Dirty Dozen-What's going on
Stanton Moore-III
Galactic-Ruckus
Wynton marsalis
branford marsalis
nevilles
dr. john
Robert randolph-wetlands
soulive
crusaders
blind boys of alabama
angelique kidjo
sister rosetta tharpe
bob marley
The dozen and moore cds are new releases! Looks like some of my faves have found a way to put a little extra $ in their pockets. Good for them.

Nope. Not there. Sometimes you just have to go the source of all music new orleans--LMF www.louisianamusicfactory.com
I had already purchased the moore and dozen cds at lmf but those will make great gifts!

kk, I'm surprised to see these greats at bmg! Maybe the industry is finally coming around a little, huh? This is a great way to build your music collection if you're just starting out, or re-starting one.
Of course, I always recommend buying CDs directly from the musicians at the shows because the artists themselves get to keep so much more of the cash since the middleman is cut out.
And, LMF is the absolute best cd/record shop in the whole world!

YYR, fables. I'm thinking moore and the dozen must've gotten good enough monetary deals to get them to sell those cds there. BMG is great if youre looking to try some stuff that's new to you. Not such a big investment.

YYR KK - I join BMG once a year to get the 12 for the price of one. Then I sing up hubby as a member and get 3 or 4 more free, and he gets 12 for the price of one, then we both quit. Wait a few months, and do it again.
It has been a real moneysaver in replacing some of our old favorite vinyl with cd's.
But it's great to see they are adding lots of NOLA music, I'd never had much luck there before.
I'm planning on signing up again in the next few weeks. Are you still signed up? If so, you can add me as your "friend" if you want so you get the 3-4 free ones.
