Lester,
Bad timing for the Rochacha show, I'm out of town that day. Fortunately, there's usual two or three chances to catch Donna etc around here per year. Maybe CFF now too?
Here's one that I intend to make that you may be interested in:
December 06, 2007 - Bonerama - Pittsford Sutherland High School (?!), Pittsford NY , Time TBD
See: http://www.bonerama.net/shows.html

Thanks, Michelino. I'll check it out. They played a high school in the Rome/Utica area earlier this year.
If I can go, maybe we can hook up before, during, or after.

I like Donna the Buffalo alot, but they play at so many other Northeast festivals all summer long, they wouldn't draw me to Crawfish Fest. We usually go to Jazzfest for first weekend and a few daze, so one month later we’re still kind of riding that Jazzfest wave, missing New Orleans, wishing for a little more (before switching into summer bluegrass-mode! ) I would rather see some other New Orleans or Louisiana type bands, that we don’t get to see so often up here, like a Papa Grows Funk, or Dumpstaphunk, or Big Sam, or some other brass or funk bands. Or the Bluerunners - I got to see them in Lafayette a couple weeks ago, and thought, wow, why don’t they ever come up to any of our festivals? They are kind of jammy, but not like DTB - more swampy sounding, I guess, more zydeco, but mixed with other styles. Even Gumbohead, while not from LA, would be a welcome addition. I’m sure whatever Chuck puts together will be great, but for me, it has be different enough from other Northeast festivals (including the 2 Cajun / Zydeco fests in CT around the same time) to make the 4 ½ hour drive. The nice thing about CFF last year, in my opinion, was the variety, and the echoes of Jazzfest with bands like Bonerama , NOSC, Jon Cleary, Cowboy Mouth.

hey lisa
we are thinking about have 2 bands that are not from LA to possibly introduce cff to some new folks without offending the people who now come. There's always 2 more stages to check out if people dont like the next band up.
we wont deviate too far from what we have done in the past.
we have a good game plan, just waiting on confirms to see if it all comes together
thanks for the input

Well, that's why I'd love to see them there, cuz I don't get a chance to catch them down here in N.O.!! I thought seriously about going on their cruise in January but didn't get my act together in time to make that happen.

Yea, you really have to plan way ahead for those cruises. We are thinking of doing jamcruise in 2009....

I think DTB would fit in really well at CFF, they're kind of rockabilly with a zydeco twist. I would love to see them there jamming on the washboard and wailing on the accordian. I've seen them a couple of times and I'm not truly part of the herd BUT I think you would draw the herd to CFF for sure with them on the lineup.

I would love to see Donna The Buffalo at Crawfish Fest... they would fit in really nice. It would be just the thing I needed to see listed to make the trip to NJ.

I have been touting Donna the B. on this board for years! Interesting point about whether they would be a draw at Crawfest, considering they play Northeast a lot. I have been a loyal follower of this band for more than a decade. Personally, I would love to see them play Jazz Fest. I have said this before on this board: This band introduced a whole slew of Northeast people to zydeco music. They play more country/roots/jam music than zydeco, and they do it all very well. A couple of times of year at summer festivals they switch around instruments a bit and play as "Zydeco Experiment'' and play all night in dance tents.
This band loves to play, and it shows.

They will show and tell...saw them several times at the Undertow on St. Pete Beach, then just last year the biggest show in the bay area at Jannus Landing, a lovely lil venue in dt St.Pete. I could def dig them at JF '08.

The first time I saw Tara of DTB (didn't know who she was then) she was playing acoustic guitar at a late night jam at a festival. The next day I saw her on stage with DTB playing rubboard, fiddle and guitar. I totally think they'd work for JF (I'm thinking Fais Do Do).

Donna the Buffalo played at the Undertow? When was that?
Welcome Kimmie! Was the Jannus show when they played two consecutive nights there? I went to one of those. Also saw them just this last Saturday night at Magfest; they're allright but I'm not in the herd. Left them to catch some Col. Bruce Hampton at the other stage (but did come back for the encore--my gf is in the herd).
