Here is the attractive flyer from the event's website:

http://louisianamusichalloffame.org/ozzy/images/stories/flyer10272007finalwebsite.jpg

Their website is http://louisianamusichalloffame.org/ozzy/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1

Has anyone heard of this? I don't know anything about the organization (not that I should).

Tickets are $100.

On their home page, if you hover over "Sat. Oct 27th" under "UpComing La Musique," (left side of home page above La Musique Calendar) it tells you the show is at 4 pm.

The text on this page says "Doors will open around 7 pm"

The home page has this strange claim:

------------------
The Louisiana Music Hall Of Fame - Official!!!

La Musique is proud to announce that Louiisiana Secretary Of State, Jay Dardenne, has officially, by signature and agreement, granted the right of use of "The Louisiana Music Hall Of Fame" to La Musique de Louisianne Inc. for our project. This Agreement is unprecedented and our great thanks go to Jay for his action. The name "The Louisiana Music Hall Of Fame" is owned and reserved by The Louisiana Secretary Of State, who is the overseer of Louisiana Museums, including the Old State Capitol, Louisiana State Museum and the Delta Music Museum.

Thanks again to Jay Dardenne, Louisiana Secretary Of State.
-----------------

But, if anyone pays the fee and fills out the form, the La. Secretary of State issues an incorporation certificate. I suspect that's all this paragraph is talking about. Just some puffery. However, according to the Secretary of State's website, the La Musique corporation hasn't paid its current required fees: "Annual Report Status: Not In Good Standing for failure to file current Annual Report 2007 Annual Report is required at this time"

When I got the Offbeat email I was very interested in this event, but now, I just don't think so. I know, there's a number to call, but I haven't done that. Anyone else have insight into this? Maybe I am overly cautious.

To: "At Ponchatrain" (apparently from Baton Rouge)

I just became aware of this posting by accident.....for the record, a number was, as you stated, included...yet you didn't call it for correct info....and, you are apparently in Baton Rouge, making it a local no cost call...???

The name "The Louisiana Music Hall Of Fame" is not a name available from the SOS of LA repository of names...it is a name that belongs specifically to The Louisiana Secretary Of State...and is not available for purchase and use...the name has been specifically signed to La Musique de Louisianne Inc. for use in operations by LA SOS Jay Dadenne after meetings and evaluation of the project and the request for use of the name.....a little more than "puffery" it was not purchased, as it is and was not available for purchase and use.
The only previous of the name "The Louisiana Music Hall Of Fame" wasDel Moon, a former WBRZ and Gris Gris air personality and writer, currently a member of the Advisory Board of La Musique de Louisianne's "The Louisiana Music Hall OF Fame".

It is a shame that you did not follow and contact and inquire, as you missed one of the most amazing shows in decades......please see the website www.lmhof.org for many photos and article(s)....

Thanks for alerting me to the tardiness of the $5 filing for good standing, as we have lost our main "paperwork" attorney to the world of fiction and authoring...I just checked and your stated info is correct....the filing has apparently been "lost in the cracks" and will be resolved by weeks end, if not today....

The Louisiana Music Hall Of Fame has now joined thisforum as "LA Music Hall Of Fame" and will hopefully become aware of this type of posting in a more timely manner...had there been an awareness of this or any other posting relevant to the project, it would have been answered/responded to with all speed....

The Louisiana Music Hall Of Fame project is not "puffery" of any type...great lengths have been gone to in order to try to do this well and right....including certification by the IRS as a 501 (c)3 tax exempt (non profit as it's called).

We now have 20 member Inductees including, most recently, Pete Fountain..and, in the next 30 days or so we will be inducting Deacon John, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, the Boswells, GOv Jimmie Davis and several others.

We recently produced the inaugural activities of Governor Bobby Jindal, which include the amazing performance of Deacon John's "God Bless America" to close the inauguration on state, national and available world wide television broadcast, along with highlighted artists Ellis Marsalis, David St. Romain, Rockin' Dopsie Jr., Al "Carnival Time" Johnson, Tommy McLain, L'Angelus, Hunter Hayes and others at various inaugural events the weekend of January 12 - 14, 2008.

We welcome all inquiries and solicit all help of any type for our project to try and restore the knowledge of Louisiana's amazing musical heritage and artists as we honor them. We are trying to honor those artists still with us in order to best serve them and the community of fans of Louisiana's music and artists.
If anyone has any questions of any type, we will try to answer them honestly, if we are made aware of them. In short, if you had used the contact number or email before posting your forum entry, we would have been happy to answer any questions or deal with any issues that you may have had or may still have. I apoligize for the delay in answering this forum, but, it's hard to deal with what you are not aware of...If you will contact me at the email below, directly, I will be happy to talk with you, meet with you, whatever.....For this project to succeed, it needs good vibes, not accusations of "puffery" and the like...please use our contact info to allow us to correct any misconceptions or misreads of info before announcing them to the world...we do care.....
PLease visit our website www.lmhof.org or, if you like longhand typing, www.louisianamusichalloffame.org
Thanks,
